Almost everyone's expression shifted.
Surprise morphed quickly into contempt.
Of all the times Nova could have tripped, why did it have to happen right as Tristan walked in? She had dressed up nicely these past few days, her complexion radiant and glowing, making it blatantly obvious to the room that this was a deliberate attempt to seduce him!
"Thank you. Please let me go."
Realizing it was Tristan holding her, she instinctively shoved at his chest. It was a visceral reaction; she couldn't bear being this close to him.
But perhaps it was her imagination—when she pushed the first time, his grip seemed to tighten around her waist, making it impossible to break free.
To the onlookers, it looked like she was intentionally rubbing against him, playing hard to get.
The disgust directed at her only deepened.
If they weren't in a public setting, Kieran probably would have jumped up and cursed her out on the spot.
Before Nova could say another word, Tristan released her. He gave her a single, indifferent glance and turned to enter the private room.
It was as if nothing had happened at all.
Yvette's expression relaxed slightly upon seeing this.
Kieran even leaned in to whisper, "Tristan couldn't care less about her. He only caught her because of the kid she's carrying. Belinda is obsessed with that baby."
Yvette agreed completely.
Why else would Tristan ever touch someone like Nova?
It was just a business dinner, yet Samuel had insisted on bringing her along...
And she had zero sense of boundaries!
Yvette frowned in distaste.
She watched as Samuel hurried over to Nova.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice low enough for only the two of them to hear. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Yvette shifted her gaze to Tristan.
Though his eyes briefly swept over Nova and Samuel, his expression remained entirely unreadable. He turned to Chuck to discuss preparing the contracts.
Throughout the entire exchange, he didn't give Nova a second thought.
Yvette raised an eyebrow. Was Nova really going to keep trying her pathetic seduction tactics under these circumstances?
Unbothered by the stares, Nova opened her folder. When she spoke, her tone was entirely professional:
"I've reviewed the partnership proposals from Forrester Group and Clayton Group. Our terms are as follows: CN Dynamics will provide the manpower, time, technology, and subsequent maintenance. Unless extreme circumstances arise, or losses are incurred due to our operational errors, we demand one hundred percent controlling say over the AI and humanoid robotics R&D projects."
This had always been her signature negotiating style.
Tristan used to bring her along to meetings when she was freshly promoted to his assistant.
Whenever he stepped out to take a call, she would face a table of ruthless executives alone, fielding their interrogations and laying down the law.
Her ruthless efficiency and uncompromising temper on the battlefield of business were a mirror image of his own.
