Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 188

Noelle's door was already wide open when Hunter woke up the next day. The room was also completely empty. He leapt up from the couch and realized that the passersby were giving him weird looks as if he were a voyeuristic pervert.

The corner of Hunter's lips twitched as he hurried downstairs to look for Noelle.

Three hours later, the Stonegate Racing Team arrived in Emberfield. Despite how Emberfield wasn't too far from Stonegate, the former's development wasn't as advanced as Stonegate's, which led to the passengers on the plane discussing among themselves as to why that was.

When the plane touched down, everyone shared the same sentiment that Emberfield's airport and facilities looked rather old.

Jody explained, "I heard that Emberfield used to be much more advanced than Stonegate. The top family in Emberfield, the Quinn family, pushed Emberfield's economy to unprecedented heights with the multiple businesses they were involved in."

A staff member, who wasn't familiar with Emberfield's history, asked, "Why did Emberfield end up like this then?"

There weren't many people on the streets and even fewer people doing business.

Jody shrugged. "It's a long story, but apparently there was a fierce internal conflict within the Quinn family. The head of the Quinn family thought that the fighting was pointless, so he disappeared with his wife and daughter, along with many of the Quinn family's assets.

"The Quinn family ultimately fell to ruin since the family members who were left didn't manage the business properly, and their subordinates were also unwilling to follow their instructions."

"I heard about this. Everyone was saying that the head of the Quinn family only left because his brother had hurt him deeply. The rest of the Quinn family members are still looking for the head, hoping that he can return to them and restore the Quinn family to its former glory."

"The Quinn family used to be on the same level as the Haberkorns and the Hamiltons. Although they're weak now, they were once a formidable family. If the head of the Quinn family returns with all the assets he took with him, Emberfield might reclaim its former glory as well."

Hunter shot a glance at Noelle, who was next to him, as the others chattered among themselves. He frowned and said, "It's so noisy."

His words caused the others to fall silent immediately. Meanwhile, Noelle's face was an emotionless mask as she continued moving forward.

They were arranged to stay in the best hotel in Emberfield. Noelle was assigned to stay in the presidential suite while the others were assigned standard rooms. Even Arthur was only assigned a standard room despite being the second-best racer on the team.

The biased treatment of Noelle made the others unsatisfied.

He wanted the other people to know who was supporting Noelle behind the scenes to deter them from coming up with any schemes.

Noelle felt a little helpless in the face of Hunter's blatant favoritism and protection. "I only joined the team recently, but I share the same goal as everyone else. We're a team. I can't accept your biased treatment. I don't want the others to think that I'm not part of the team.

"I won't be staying in the presidential suite. Since all the racers are assigned to stay in standard rooms, I'll also stay in a standard room."

Her words appeased those who were displeased by Hunter's biased treatment a little.

Although Hunter didn't want Noelle to endure any hardship, he didn't push the issue after hearing her reasoning. He only arranged for her to stay in the presidential suite because he could tell that the other members of the racing team were ostracizing her.

"Ms. Quinn is right," Hunter said, his tone laced with warning. "You're a team. If anyone tries to drive a wedge between the racers to distract them from the goal, you can kiss your dreams of participating in the International Grand Prix goodbye."

Cassandra averted her eyes, feeling a little guilty. She exchanged glances with Jody. Although they hadn't done anything, they couldn't shake the feeling that Hunter's warning was aimed directly at them.
