Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 205

"Noelle, thanks for standing up for me just now."

Hunter lowered his head and kissed Noelle on the cheek. "To show my gratitude, I'm getting you a gift. Later, you can pick out whatever you like at the mall."

He knew Noelle had her own money, but he still wanted a reason to spoil her.

Noelle looked up at him and smiled faintly. "I'm just being honest. I'm not taking your side on purpose."

She couldn't shake the feeling that Liam didn't care about Hunter as much as he seemed to.

If he truly wished Hunter well, why would he belittle him in front of others?

Even so, she couldn't tell Hunter that.

If she did, she would just be seen as the one trying to drive a wedge between them.

With only a few days left before the race in Musgola and having barely spent a full day with Hunter, Noelle took a short rest after lunch before heading to the track for training.

Most of the main racing teams were still in Emberfield. Only a few had gone ahead to Musgola early.

While Noelle was supervising the team's training that afternoon, Jude came over. "Ivan's admitted to everything. The tire-swap was Sam's idea, but Sam refuses to admit it. Since Ivan has no proof, it'll be hard to pin the blame on him."

Besides, Sam had no reason to harm her. As long as he kept denying it, the blame would stay on Ivan, leaving Sam untouched.

Noelle hadn't expected Sam to be so blatantly shameless.

Things had come this far, and he still wanted to walk away unscathed.

She shook her head and continued, "I don't want us to keep working with selfish people like that in the future. Racing isn't an individual competition—it's a team effort. You can't afford to be missing even one member. If everyone just focuses on showing off themselves, our team will never rank first."

Noelle's words struck a chord deep within Jude.

For years, he had stood by the team, watching them year after year as they stayed near the bottom of the rankings. He had felt anger, frustration, and helplessness, but it hadn't accomplished anything.

Noelle's words had cleared his mind. He had meant to let it go, only giving Jamie a private warning not to repeat the mistake.

If he went through with it, he wouldn't just be hurting Noelle. He'd be giving Jamie the confidence to make the same mistake again.

Thinking of this, Jude's expression hardened. "Give me all the evidence you have. I'll have someone question Sam again. Ivan admitted his mistake voluntarily, so he'll go back to the mechanical department and take over Sam's duties, directing operations from now on."

He also knew how hard Ivan had worked to get where he was. With no connections or backing, he had faced constant pressure from Sam but still persevered. If they kept Ivan this time, he might very well become the youngest manager in the team's mechanical department.
