Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 218

Noelle said, "So, was I just overthinking things?"

Noelle brushed his hand away. "I won't interfere if you don't want me to."

Hunter grabbed her fingers again, this time with enough force that she wouldn't be able to break free. "I'm prepared to deal with them. I just don't want you to get too overworked."

He was already incredibly touched that she had thought about him and worried for him.

How could he bear to let her exhaust herself over him?

Noelle pulled her hand back and said irritably, "Fine. I was worried about you, but clearly you didn't need it at all."

Hunter's heart softened as he pulled her into his arms and said, "I do need you. How could I not? My dear wife, I'm already touched that you think of me and worry for me. Don't worry, I'll take care of myself, and I'll take care of you, too."

Noelle pushed his head away. "Who are you calling your wife?"

They weren't even married, and he was saying that.

Hunter nuzzled her shoulder. "I don't care. I belong to you now, so you have to take responsibility for me. I'll call you whatever I want. Don't tell me you're going to be a heartless woman. Are you going to use me and then leave?"

Hunter nipped at her earlobe. "I didn't expect my wife to be this cruel."

Noelle let out a soft laugh.

She had to admit that Hunter was good at acting cute.

Still, she wasn't about to drop her guard with the Haberkorn family.

They'd already come right up to her to provoke her. Wouldn't she be letting them off too easily if she'd just brushed it off?

On the day of the practice race, Noelle familiarized herself with the track and discussed strategy with her teammates. She felt that the race was almost in the bag. After the last race in Emberfield, she was determined to lead the team one step further in Musgola.

This was why tomorrow's qualifying round was crucial.

During the event in Emberfield, her wheel had malfunctioned on qualifying day, placing the team sixth on the starting grid. It directly impacted their starting position for the main race.

Now, though, the Stonegate Racing Team was more united than before, and everyone put even more emphasis on the qualifying round.

All vehicle equipment and parts had been thoroughly inspected to ensure no issues during the practice run.

After listening to everyone's reports, Noelle let out a sigh of relief and headed back to her room to rest.

Just then, Maxine came into the conference room with a few people carrying snacks and drinks. "Everyone worked hard today. I brought some late-night snacks to help you unwind. Do your best in tomorrow's qualifying race! I believe you'll achieve great results!"

The team members were touched.

Maxine released Noelle's arm awkwardly. "Ms. Quinn, I'm sorry. I was getting ahead of myself. Don't worry, I won't bother you again."

Noelle let out a cold laugh and turned to leave.

Watching as Noelle walked away, Maxine lowered her head and wiped at her tears.

The team members stepped up to comfort her. "Don't take it to heart, Ms. Clarkson. Ms. Quinn has a sharp tongue, but she's a big softie on the inside. She doesn't mean any harm."

"Besides, she and Mr. Haberkorn are very much in love. It's only natural that she might misunderstand your intentions."

Maxine sneered inwardly. She hadn't expected these fools to be so good at making excuses for Noelle.

She maintained her innocent expression as she wiped away her tears. "Of course, I won't take it to heart. I'd accept it even if Ms. Quinn misunderstood me and yelled at me a little. I just feel like you shouldn't have spoken up for me just now.

She looked at everyone. "What if she gets angry at you because of me and decides to walk away from the team? What will happen to the team's future?"

Arthur cut in coolly, "Ms. Quinn isn't that kind of person. She's always taken her work seriously and never acts recklessly.

Maxine laughed inwardly when she heard that.

Before she'd touched Noelle just now, maybe Noelle wouldn't have. But after she had touched Noelle, things were no longer so certain.
