Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 221

Arthur spoke with firm finality. "If there are any issues, we'll talk about them after the qualifying round is over!"

Cassandra nodded as well. "Yeah, Ms. Quinn isn't someone who's petty or narrow-minded. Before, when Ivan was threatened and made mistakes, Ms. Quinn not only gave him a chance to make amends, but she even let him return to the team as management. That shows she can tell right from wrong."

She looked at Maxine. She was worried about Maxine carrying a grudge and about retaliation from the Haberkorns, but she couldn't help saying, "Besides, these are internal matters of our team. Ms. Clarkson, you came to cheer for our team, but it'd be better if you didn't interfere in our internal affairs."

After thinking it over, the others all nodded in agreement.

That was right. No matter what Noelle did, it was an internal matter of the Stonegate Racing Team. Maxine wasn't even a member of the team staff, so what right did she have to take part in their internal discussions?

Maxine's expression darkened.

Arthur said coldly, "Let's go, everyone. The race is about to start."

No one had the mind to gossip anymore as they all hurried toward the track.

Outside, the sky gradually darkened.

In the room, after finishing his examination of Noelle, Chandler raised an eyebrow. "The poison you've been given is extremely rare. There's no way to find information about it on the market right now. But by coincidence, I know who developed it."

Hunter looked at Chandler and sprang to his feet excitedly. "Do you have a way to treat it?"

Clad in a white lab coat, Chandler had a handsome, bright face and looked sunny and upbeat. However, his eyes were gloomy, as if he embodied two extremes.

He narrowed his eyes. "This poison was invented by my fellow disciple, Knowles. The reason he created it was to beat me."

Chandler let out a cold laugh. "We studied under the same master. One of us excels at medicine, the other at poison. Our teacher has a vast treasure vault that can only be passed on to one of us. So, he's always wanted to develop a toxin I can't cure. I didn't expect he'd actually use it to harm people."

If an ordinary person were poisoned with this, there'd be no way to treat it. All they could do was wait for death.

Noelle looked at him quietly.

She hadn't eaten or drunk anything all day, and her body looked extremely weak. If it weren't for the injection, the muscle weakness would likely have continued to worsen.

"I can neutralize this poison, but it's extremely tricky. The poison works through a combination of essential oils and aromatherapy to numb the nervous system, ultimately damaging the muscle nerves.

The gloom on Chandler's face turned into grave focus. "If we'd treated it immediately after onset, I could have spared you some suffering. But it's been nearly a full day now. This toxin can't be eliminated all at once. My medicine can only help you temporarily."

"Thank you," Noelle said weakly, lifting her eyes with great effort.

"Don't be too quick to celebrate."

Chandler shook his head. "I don't know who poisoned you, but to use this kind of toxin on a woman is vicious. It's far too cruel and insidious."

Even as a doctor, he could hardly stomach it.

Noelle closed her eyes, and Chandler took out the medicine and injected it into her.

Chandler instructed, "Put a piece of wood or a cloth strip in her mouth, and it's best to bind her hands as well. When the pain hits, it can be deadly. It won't be good if she ends up hurting herself in the process."

Holding back tears, Hunter stuffed a wad of cloth into Noelle's mouth. He gripped her hand tightly and stayed by her side. "Noelle, if it hurts, dig your nails into me."

He looked back at the others. "Juned, take Dr. Halton to the next room to rest. Until Noelle recovers, Dr. Halton can't leave. Everyone else, please step out as well."

He didn't want anyone to see her in such pain and distress.

At his words, everyone withdrew.

Chandler wanted to say something, but only sighed and patted Hunter's shoulder.

Very soon, the medicine took effect. Noelle, who'd been lying in bed, suddenly opened her eyes wide. The veins on her forehead bulged violently, and her body felt as if it were being cut to pieces.

It hurt so much.
