Noelle's return to the track was like a shot of adrenaline for the Stonegate Racing Team. Everyone gradually upped their focus. Although they hadn't secured a good starting position in the qualifying round this time, Noelle still managed to take third place.
And that was with her in extremely poor condition.
Racing demanded exceptional all-around ability.
The fact that she could force herself through the race at all was already beyond what most ordinary people could manage.
When the results came out, Noelle broke into a bright smile.
At that moment, members of the race task force walked up to her. "Ms. Quinn, someone has reported you for using banned substances. Please come with us."
Everyone was shocked.
Cassandra exclaimed in disbelief. "Sir, that's impossible. Our captain has always been exceptionally strong. She would never use banned drugs. Someone is slandering her!"
"Yeah, our captain would never do something like that!"
The other team members grew tense as well. If Noelle were suspected of doping, then her result would be nullified outright, which would mean they ran this race for nothing.
However, Noelle remained as composed as ever. "Don't worry, everyone. I'll go with them. I have never taken any banned substances. My conscience is clear."
Arthur looked anxious. "Ms. Quinn, are you really okay?"
Recovering so quickly after being poisoned and still achieving such a result was practically a miracle.
Noelle shook her head and gave him a reassuring look.
Before participating in the race, she had consulted Chandler and confirmed that the medication injected into her body would not affect the competition.
Moreover, even if they tested her, there would be no presence of banned items.
So, she wasn't worried at all.
She had even anticipated that something like this would happen.
After all, this was just Maxine being up to her usual tricks.
How could Maxine possibly miss such a perfect opportunity?
"Ms. Quinn, if you didn't want to compete, you could've just skipped it. There's no need to use banned drugs!" At some point, Maxine had slipped into the crowd.
She gave Noelle a slight smile. "Ms. Quinn, if you're not capable enough, just withdraw. Why drag everyone down and bring shame on us all?"
Noelle looked at Maxine with a burning gaze, then said to the task force member beside her, "Sorry, give me ten minutes."
Then she walked toward Maxine, step by step.
