Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 237

Still, Laura was a seasoned veteran of the elite society's battles. After forcing herself to stay calm, she walked toward the group of socialites.

Yet the moment they spotted her, the ladies scattered to hide and avoid her as if she were some venomous snake. Forget helping Liam secure partnerships, she didn't even manage to exchange a single word with any of them!

Not far away, Noelle watched the spectacle and half-smilingly raised her wine glass at Laura. She didn't even bother to hide the mocking look in her eyes.

Laura fumed at the thought of the deals slipping through her fingers when they were practically within her grasp. What trick had Noelle pulled?

After the dinner party, Laura swallowed her pride and tried reaching out to the ladies. She thought there was a sliver of chance to salvage things, only to realize that all of them had finalized their partnerships with Jagger.

In other words, all the partnerships meant for Liam were gone!

It felt almost like she was struck by a bolt of lightning.

Enraged, she sent Thomas to investigate what had happened. When he handed over his findings, she nearly fainted after reading after skimming through the information. It was worse than she could have imagined.

Now that she knew what was going on, she completely lost her composure.

There was a reason the ladies refused to work with her or even acknowledge her. Before the dinner party even began, they had received anonymous tip-off letters detailing Laura's dirty dealings over the years.

Some letters involved their businesses, while others involved their husbands.

Laura had always been known to be ruthless and merciless.

After reading the letters, the ladies wanted nothing more than to slap Laura. There wasn't a chance they would kindly forgive her, let alone work with her.

Laura recalled the warning Noelle had given her and immediately understood. "Bitch! It was Noelle who did this! She's trying to ruin my plans!"

Thomas cautiously advised, "Mrs. Haberkorn, the fact that she could dig up all this shows that she's not simple. And with the Hamilton family backing her, she won't be easy to deal with."

Laura let out an unwilling, cold snort. "Am I supposed to swallow this insult just because she's a handful? I'm complaining to Mrs. Haberkorn Senior!

"Noelle isn't even married into the family yet, so how dare she target me, her future mother-in-law. I don't care how much Hunter likes her, but I'll never agree to her setting foot in the Haberkorn family as a bride!"

Laura screamed, her chest heaving with rage as she swept a vase off the table. "Bitch!"

Hunter's actions were what angered her most. There was no way Hunter didn't know what Noelle had done, yet he had backed her every step of the way.

The realization fed Laura's fury.

So, the next morning, Noelle accompanied Hunter back to the Haberkorn residence. It was a far cry from what she had expected.

"Hunter is lucky to have a girlfriend like you, Ms. Quinn. This is a small welcome gift from me. I hope you'll like it."

With that, Nancy had her men bring out a quaint, old-fashioned-looking jewelry box.

When Noelle opened it, she was momentarily dazzled by the sparkling gems inside. It contained numerous diamonds and emeralds, each a fine treasure.

"These are all for you."

Nancy smiled and glanced at Hunter. "Hunter has never brought a woman home before. Since he's chosen you, we won't treat you poorly."

Noelle hadn't expected such generosity. "These gems are too valuable, Mrs. Haberkorn Senior. I can't take them."

Though her parents' inheritance was enough to buy countless pieces like those, she still felt like she was taking advantage.
