Chapter 106
Iris’s POV
Lucas’s eyes were on me as I approached where he stood.
“Three laps. Now.” He said coldly.
There was no greeting, just his cold command.
I didn’t hesitate, I started running.
However, my mind was tense. Every second I expected him to shout at me, to know why my hands weren’t bandaged anymore, or why my hands were totally healed. But nothing came.
By
final lap, I was sweating profusely and panting heavily. I glanced at him subtly, trying to get a hint of what was going on in his mind. He was watching me with his eyes narrowed, but there was nothing unusual in his cold expression.
He had to have noticed. Right?
I shoved my hands back into my pockets as I walked back. The second I got close to him, he barked, “Time to stretch.”
I obeyed.
I followed his instructions carefully, while also hoping to distract him from the obvious fact that my hands were unbandaged, and healed.
Still, there was no reaction. His eyes watched me with that cold, detached look.
I told myself to be relieved, but the silence was worse. Lucas didn’t miss things. If he wasn’t saying anything, it was probably because he was storing it up, waiting to strike later.
“That’s enough, let’s move on,” he ordered. “You know what to do.”
I dropped my hands, took my stance, and braced myself.
My heart pounded as I finally pulled my fists out of my pockets.
I threw the first punch, then the second.
“Tuck your elbow in.” Lucas adjusted my angle.
Still there was nothing. No questions. No curious look.
I could barely focus on the drills because I was too busy waiting for the moment when he would bring it up. But it never came. He just kept giving instructions, his tone was flat, no form of emotion.
“Again.”

“Faster.”
“Harder.”
My fists slammed into the heavy dummy, the same one that had shredded my hands before. Each strike sent a jolt through my arms, but I ignored it, even though I could feel the new bruises forming.
Lucas circled me with sharp eyes and an unreadable look on his face. “Harder.”
I clenched my jaw and obeyed as sweat poured down my neck.
I lost track of how long I spent punching the dummy, while bracing myself for his interrogation soon.
Tsuddenly, he spoke again. “Stop.”
I froze in the middle of a punch, breathing heavily. My knuckles were red again, and the skin was bruised, but not destroyed like last time.
Lucas stepped closer, staring at my bruised fists. My breath hitched. This was it. He was about to call me out.
But instead, he only gave a sharp nod. “That’s enough for today.”
That was it. Nothing more.
I blinked, confused. He had seen my hands. I was very sure. But he didn’t mention it at all. Why?
As usual, he took a sip of the water, and handed it to me. Then he turned his back on me, dismissing me like I wasn’t worth more of his time.
I stood frozen for a moment with my fists clenched as I stared at his back.
So many questions raced through my head, but I wasn’t stupid enough to ask him. If he wasn’t saying anything, then I wasn’t going to hand him an opportunity to dig.
So I wiped the sweat from my forehead, picked up the water bottle, and walked off the field with several questions burning in my chest.
