Chapter 112
Iris’s POV
The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was that the room was too bright. I blinked several times, waiting for the pounding in my skull to start, but there was nothing.
For a second, I stayed still, bracing for the pain in my body. After yesterday’s fight, I should have felt like I had been run over by a truck.
But there was nothing.
Just…a faint ache, like I had slept on the wrong side of the bed.
I shot upright, then I froze instantly, expecting a sharp stab of pain. But still nothing.
My heart pounded, I swung my legs out of the bed. Then slowly, I stood up.
Yet, there was still no pain.
The memory of Drew’s final punch flashed through my mind. It should have left me barely able to sit or even breathe.
Instead, I felt fine.
My stomach tightened.
I stumbled toward the mirror and took off my shirt. Just as I had expected, there were no dark bruises, no swollen cut, no single mark, nothing.
My skin looked as if the fight never happened.
“What the hell,” I whispered.
I twisted to check my ribs, still nothing. I touched my shoulder, no swelling.
This wasn’t normal. Not even for a wolf with decent healing. Bruises usually faded after a day or two, not overnight, and these injuries had been heavy.
A sudden knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts.
I jumped back from the mirror, heart racing
I didn’t want anyone to see me this way. My heart pounded hard. I had the urge to hide, like a child caught doing something wrong.
There was another knock.

“Iris? Are you awake?”
It was Shane.
Relief flooded through me so fast I almost laughed.
“Yeah,” I called, my voice broke. “Come in.
The door creaked open and Shane stepped inside, still wearing the same black hoodie from yesterday. He raised an eyebrow the moment he saw me.
“Well, you’re alive,” he said, furrowing his eyebrows in surprise. “And you’re standing. That’s impressive. I expected you to be flat on your back for at least two days.”
I ran a hand through my hair. “Yeah, about that…”
His eyes narrowed. “What?”
will
I hesitated, then sighed and lifted the shirt slightly. “Look.”
Shane leaned closer. He frowned. “Where’s. where’s the damage?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out,” I said. “There isn’t any.”

He reached out, his fingers brushing lightly over my ribs. I flinched on instinct, but it didn’t hurt.
“It’s not even tender,” he muttered. He straightened up, frowning. “Okay. What t hell is going on? This is the second time.”
I shook my head. “I woke up like this. Yesterday I could barely move. Now, I feel nothing.”
Shane stared at me for a long moment, then an unreadable expression crossed his face, then he tilted his head.
“This isn’t standard wolf healing. I’ve seen cracked ribs before. The only person I’ve seen heal this fast is…Rowan. And he’s a powerful alpha.”
He gave me another look. “Do you come from an alpha bloodline?”
I shook my head. “I doubt it. I wouldn’t have such a weak wolf if I did.”
Shane frowned. “Your parents-”
“Dead,”
He nodded. “I’m sorry for-”

“It was a long time ago,” I said sharply. My tone showed that I wasn’t willing to continue the conversation.
Luckily, Shane wisely decided to drop it. “Well, your wolf is inactive… do you have some secret power that you’re hiding from us, princess?”
I scowled. “Don’t call me that. And no.”
There was silence for a moment, where Shane looked lost in thought.
I scratched the back of my neck. “Maybe it’s nothing.”
Shane snorted. “Yeah, sure. Tell that to all the pack members who watched you being pummeled.”
I facepalmed, releasing a groan of frustration. “What do I do?”
He crossed his arms. “For now, till we figure out what’s happening, you need to hide your lack of injury. First step, look for something, like a hoodie to hide your skin. Then avoid going out today because no one would be expecting you to be standing at all today.”
I nodded. I rushed to my closet to get a hoodie.
When I stepped out, Shane scowled. “What the hell is that?”
I tugged at the hoodie and realized why Shane was glaring.
It barely reached my waist. It was a cropped hoodie, it was too cute for what I n
I sighed, rubbing my forehead. “It’s Jasmine’s fault. These are the hoodies she picked when we went shopping last week. She said they were more stylish” I tugg at it again, wishing it would magically grow longer. “I told her I needed something normal.”
Shane’s eyes glanced at the exposed area of my stomach and he rolled his eyes hard. “Yeah, this is exactly how you would keep your miraculous overnight healing hidden. By flashing half the pack.”
“Not helpful,” I muttered.
He huffed, and pulled off his own hoodie. The hoodie hit me in the chest before I even registered what he was doing.
I caught it awkwardly. “Shane, no. I can’t-this is yours.”
“It’s a hoodie, not a family heirloom or a prized possession,” he said flatly.
