Chapter 111
Iris’s POV
The world blurred when I tried to open my eyes. My ears were ringing with an endless buzz.
“She’s barely conscious,” a familiar voice said somewhere above me. I couldn’t tell who it was, it sounded far away.
“Let me carry her back to her room,” another voice offered. Was that Shane? Maybe.
“No,” a deeper voice cut through firmly. “I’ll carry her.”
I would know that voice anywhere. Rowan.
The scent of pine and fresh rain flooded my nose. My body reacted, and I relaxed, leaning toward his warmth.
“Easy,” Rowan said quietly.
Strong arms lifted me from the ground as if I weighed nothing.
“She’s out cold,” Shane said somewhere behind. His voice was mixed with worry and pride. “Damn. I know I’m a good teacher, but even I didn’t think she would fight like that.”
“You just want the credit,” Jasmine muttered from behind too.
“Of course I want the credit,” Shane shot back. “Did you see her during the fight? That wasn’t the same woman who was about to enter the ring some minutes ago. That was… something else.”

“No kidding,” Jasmine said. “He nearly broke her ribs with that last punch.”
“She still didn’t yield,” Shane added with a hint of pride in his voice. “She took the hits and kept swinging. She’s very stubborn.”
My head felt heavy, but my lips switched in a faint smile.
“She can hear you, you know,” Jasmine said
“I doubt it,” Asher replied. “Look at her. She’s out.”
“I’m not out,” I mumbled, though it came out more like a weak whisper.
Rowan glanced down at me. “Don’t talk, Iris ” he said, voice low and steady. “Save your strength.”
I let my eyes slip closed again.
Shane chuckled softly. “Wow. Did you see that? She listens to him but never to me.”
“Because you never sound like you know what you’re doing,” Asher teased.
