Chapter 121
Iris’s POV
The faint smell of herbs filled my nose as I opened my eyes. I glanced around the room. I was lying on the bed, in the pack clinic.
I flinched at the memory that came rushing back. Olivia’s calm voice telling me that I was pregnant.
My eyes widened.
Shane was seated in the chair beside the bed with his arms folded across his chest. The instant he saw me move, he straightened up. “Finally,” he muttered. “You scared the hell out of me.”
I jolted upright, pulling the sheet off me. “Is it-was it real?” My voice cracked.” What Olivia said?”
He raised both hands like he was trying to calm a wild animal. “Easy. Don’t pass out again.”
“Shane,” I said, sharper this time. “Tell me.”
His mouth tightened. “Yeah. It’s real. Olivia double-checked while you were out. Iris
.” He dragged a hand over his face. “You’re pregnant.”
The room tilted again. I gripped the sheet, trying to anchor myself. “No. No, that can’t-” My chest tightened. “That can’t be right.”
“I wish I was joking,” he said quietly.
My heart pounded so hard I could hear it in my ears. “Does anyone else know?”
He shook his head at once. “No. It is not my news to share. I wouldn’t tell anyone unless you say so.”
Relief flooded through me, and I released a shaky breath. At least for now it was still
a secret.
Shane leaned forward with his elbows on his knees. “I have to ask, though.” His voice dropped. “Who’s the father?”
I stared at him. The question shouldn’t have surprised me, but it sent a sharp pain through my chest.
“Well?” he pressed when I stayed silent.

I lowered my eyes to the blanket. “I’m not-” My throat closed. “I’m not ready to talk about that.”
Shane exhaled a long breath and sat back. “You won’t tell me, will you?”
I gave him a look that answered his question without having to say a word.
“Right,” he muttered. He rubbed his forehead. “How did this even happen? Don’t you people know what protection is?”
I flinched at the edge in his voice. “I tied my tubes a while back,” I said quietly. ” Apparently it didn’t matter.
He shook his head. “That guy must have some seriously strong swimmers.”
I groaned. “Shane!”
“What? I’m just saying-” He stopped when he saw my glare. “Fine. Not the time.”
But I wasn’t really hearing him anymore.
Pregnant.
The word echoed over and over in my head. My stomach twisted as the reality settled
I was pregnant for Rowan.
The man who had saved my life several times. The man who was engaged to someone else.
I buried my face in my hands. This was exactly the kind of complicated mess I had promised myself I would avoid. And now…
“What am I supposed to do?” I whispered.
Shane’s voice softened. “Hey.” He moved his chair closer and rested a hand on my shoulder. “Breathe, okay? We’ll figure something out.”
“I can’t-“I dropped my hands and met his comforting eyes. “You can’t tell anyone. Not even Jasmine.”
He nodded without hesitation. “You have my word.”
“Not a word,” I said again, needing to hear it.
“Not a word,” he repeated. “Cross my heart. This stays between us until you’re
ready.”

I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
The door creaked open and Olivia stepped in with a small tray of bottles. “Good, you’re awake.” Her eyes were filled with concern. “How are you feeling? Any dizziness?”
I shook my head quietly.
Olivia hesitated then she sighed, placing the tray on the table. “I need you to know something,” she said gently. “Iris, this is your body and your choice. If you’re not ready to have a child, there are… options.”
My head snapped up. “Options?”
Her eyes softened. “Some women choose to end a pregnancy when they feel they can’t give a child the life it deserves. Some women feel it’s kinder than bringing a child into a situation they can’t handle.”
She continued. “No one will judge you, no matter what your decision is. As your healer, I want you to really think about the options before you.”
“No,” I said quickly before she even finished. “No, that’s not-” I shook my head hard. “I don’t need to think about that.”
Olivia studied me, then she nodded “I understand. Just… give yourself time to breathe before making any decisions. You’ve been through a lot. Emotions can shif when the shock wears off.”
“I don’t need time,” I whispered softly. “I know what I want.”
“Alright,” she said quietly. “But if you ever want to talk about anything, my door is open. No judgement.”
A lump rose up in my throat, and my eyes welled up with tears. “Thank you.”
((
Olivia gave a small, understanding nod before she gestured to the tray on the table. These are simple herbal tonics,” she said, picking up one bottle. “This one will help with appetite, this one will help with fatigue. They won’t hurt the baby.” She paused. “You’ll need regular check-ins. You can continue with your training, but you have to tone it down. And soon, you’ll have to stop.”
I swallowed hard. “Okay.”
Her tone softened. “It’s a shock, I know. But the good news is that you’re healthy, and so is the child. Take these twice a day and get plenty of rest.”
I nodded slowly.
