Chapter 132
Iris’s POV
My heart hammered in my chest.
“I’m pregnant, Rowan.” I repeated quietly this time.
Rowan was frozen. For a second he didn’t even blink. Then he began blinking too fast, like he had been hit in the head. His mouth opened, closed, then opened again.
“Well… are you—are you sure?” he stammered. His voice cracked. He looked like words had failed him.
“Yeah.” My voice was low but steady. “It was confirmed by a healer.”
He blinked hard, like the words haven’t sunk in yet. “But… how did this happen?”
I gave him a dry look. “How did it happen? Well, usually when a man and a woman
Rowan cut me off with a quick wave of his hand. “I know that, alright. I’m just- damn, Iris, I’m shocked.”
He swallowed hard. “It… it’s-” He looked almost afraid to ask the question. “Is it… mine?”
I stared at him, lifting an eyebrow. Heat flared in my chest. “What do you think?” His eyes widened, and he held up both hands quickly. “I’m not saying I doubt you, I just—hell, Iris, you said your tubes were tied. How is this even possible?”
I folded my arms tight. “I don’t know. Fate, maybe.” A bitter, humorless laugh escaped me. “The goddess must have a twisted sense of humor.”
An unreadable expression crossed Rowan’s face as he ran a hand through his hair and began pacing. “I just-” He stopped and faced me again, still looking pale. “I had no condoms, then you told me that night you couldn’t get pregnant that night. So how the hell-”
“I don’t have an answer for you,” I cut in sharply. “The healer checked twice. There’s no mistake.”
He placed his hand on the chair like he needed to hold something solid to keep standing. “I-oh wow-okay.” His breathing was rough. “Okay. So… what now?” My stomach tightened. “What do you mean, what now?”

“I mean-” He gestured between us. “What do we do? Are you going to… terminate it?”
The question hit like a slap.
My jaw clenched as annoyance burned hot in my chest. I stepped toward him and poked a finger hard into his chest.
“First off,” I snapped, “there is no ‘we.’ And second-nothing, and I mean nothing, will make me terminate this pregnancy.”
Rowan flinched but didn’t move back. He lifted his hands slightly in surrender.” Okay. Calm down, okay? I wasn’t saying you should. I just wanted to know what you planned to do next.”
“What I plan,” I said, forcing my voice to calm down, “is my business.”
His frown deepened. “What do you mean there’s no ‘we’? It’s our child, Iris. Ours. That makes this my business too.”
“No,” I said, cutting him off sharply. “It’s not ‘ours.’ It’s mine.”
Rowan’s jaw tightened until I could almost hear him grinding his teeth. “You can’t just shut me out of something like this.”
“Watch me.” I folded my arms again. My heart was hammering, but I refused to look away or stand down. “This is my body and my child. You don’t get to claim
ownership.’
He ran his hand through his hair again, his eyes on mine. “Is that why you’re leaving?”
“Yes.”
“Because of the pregnancy?” he asked
“Because I want to raise my child” I emphasized on the word. “in a stable and better environment.”
Rowan’s eyes narrowed, the muscle in his jaw twitched. “A stable and better environment?” he repeated, his voice sharp. “And you think you’ll find that by running away, while pregnant to god-knows-where?”
“Yes.” I crossed my arms tighter, forcing my voice to stay steady even though my heart was pounding. “Anywhere is better than here.”
“Better than here?” He frowned incredulously. “This pack is safe. You’re safe. Why
