Chapter 136
Iris’s POV
Shane hurried toward us with a tight frown. He must have heard Asher’s voice carry across the field.
“What’s the meeting about?” he asked as soon as he reached us. “Did the Alpha say anything?”
Asher’s serious expression shifted instantly as he shook his head with a
mischievous grin. “No way. I’m not saying anything. All I will do is pass the order along. That’s all.”
“Oh, come on!” Jasmine groaned, while Shane rolled his eyes.
Asher shrugged, still grinning. “You’ll hear it like everyone else.”
Jasmine sighed, glancing at me. “I really don’t know the use of having the Beta as a friend when he won’t give you the latest updates, instead, he’ll make you ‘hear it like everyone else”” She scoffed.
Shane gave her a pointed look. “Your brother is the Alpha. You can get the latest updates from him.”
She deflated with a sigh. “My brother barely tells me anything about things like this. He knows how much it kills me to not know things, and he loves it.”
She crossed her arms, watching Asher for a moment. “You really won’t tell me? Not even a clue?”
He chuckled, glancing toward the omegas who were already spreading them to others. “No, Jasmine. Be patient.”
I furrowed my eyebrows thoughtfully. “So… why is this meeting like a big deal?
Shane looked at me. “These meetings almost never happen. The Alpha doesn’t pu the entire pack together unless it’s something very major.”
“Major how?” I asked.
“Big announcements,” Jasmine said quickly “Things like a new alliance with another pack, a war council, or… something serious that affects every single wolf here.”
Shane nodded. “The last time I remember a compulsory meeting was when Rowan became Alpha. Before that, it was when my dad was alive, maybe once or twice in a

year.”
My stomach tightened. “So whatever this is… it’s huge.”
“Exactly,” Jasmine said.
I crossed my arms, frowning. “Well, I guess I’ll hear about it from you two later.”
They all turned to me like I had grown a second head.
“You’re not coming?” Shane asked with a hint of bemusement in his voice.
I blinked. “I’m not a member of this pack. Why would I be required to attend?”
Jasmine raised an eyebrow. “You live here. That makes you part of the pack.”
“I’m a guest,” I corrected.
Shane shook his head with a small, teasing smile. “Rowan said everyone. Guests included. No exceptions.”
“I doubt he meant me,” I muttered.
Shane chuckled. “Do you really want to test an Alpha’s direct order?”
I scowled. “That sounds like a threat.”
“It’s not,” Jasmine said, grinning now. “It’s just the truth. He gave a command. We all follow it. If you don’t show up, someone can be sent to drag you there.”
I groaned under my breath. “You people are intense.”
Shane shrugged. “Better get used to it.”
I opened my mouth to argue, then stopped when Asher shot me a warning look. ” Don’t overthink it,” he said. “Just come. It won’t hurt.”
“Fine,” I muttered. “But I’m standing in the back.”
“Good enough,” Jasmine said with a satisfied grin.
The four of us began walking toward the main hall. I had thought it was quite early for a meeting, but the whole pack seemed to be awake now.
As we walked, we caught conversations from different voices.
“What do you think it’s about?” someone behind us murmured.
“No clue,” another voice answered. “But if it’s a full call, it can’t be small.”

Shane leaned slightly toward me. “See what I mean? People are already nervous. This kind of meeting doesn’t happen unless it’s something that affects all of us.”
“How mysterious,” I said with a grin.
Jasmine gave me a small smile. “It’s usually good news. Sometimes.”
“Usually?” I echoed.
