Chapter 135
I scowled at my own reflection as I pulled up my hair. “No. He doesn’t get to do that.” I murmured. “Is he forgetting who Chloe is? Chloe will make my life a living hell, and my child will never be safe with her as Luna. Why does he act so clueless when it has to do with Chloe? Doesn’t he see how horrible she is?”
Shane sensed my bad mood, so he wisely kept silent as we walked to the training
area.
When I reached the training grounds, Lucas was already there, standing like a statue near the training dummies. His expression didn’t change when he saw me.
“Morning,” I muttered.
He nodded. “Morning.”
When he sensed my foul mood, he raised one eyebrow but didn’t say a word. Instead, he pointed toward a dummy and stepped back.
Fine by me. I wasn’t in the mood to talk.
I attacked the dummy with everything I had. I threw punch after punch, and kick after kick. My knuckles ached, and sweat ran down my back, but I kept going.
Lucas stayed silent. He didn’t bark corrections, he didn’t criticize my stance as usual. He just watched with arms folded, as poured out my frustration on the poor dummy.
Rowan’s voice kept echoing in my head-Please stay.
I hit harder.
It’s our child, Iris.
My fist slammed into the dummy’s chest.
Stop calling it a mistake!
Another hard punch, this one made my wrist throb.
I lost track of time. When I finally stopped, I was panting heavily, sweating profusely and my arms ached badly.
Lucas gave a small nod. “Good work,” he said simply.
I nodded back, wiped the sweat from my forehead, and turned to leave without a word.

I stormed away from the training area, feeling the anger inside me lessen slightly. My mind was clearer, though my body ached.
As I moved toward the edge of the field, I spotted Shane waiting just by the gate.
Before I could reach him, Jasmine appeared from nowhere and grabbed my arm, yanking me out of Shane’s line of sight, and into a storage shed.
“Iris!” She hissed, pulling me aside. Her eyes were wide with shock and hurt. You’re pregnant? And you didn’t tell me?”
I froze. “Who told you?”
((
“My brother obviously!” Her voice was a harsh whisper. “He thought I knew about it! Do you have any idea how it felt to hear it from him and not from you?”
Guilt pricked at me. “Jas, I’m sorry. I didn’t know how to tell you. I wasn’t sure how you would take it as Rowan is your brother and-”
“You didn’t know how I would take it?” she cut in, her voice rising before she lowered it again. “I’m your friend or at least I thought I was.”
“I know. I know,” I said quickly, releasing a sigh. “It wasn’t about trust. I just… needed to process it myself first. And then everything was just happening so fast-”
Jasmine’s shoulders softened, though her eyes still shone with hurt. “You could have just said something.”
“I know. I should have,” I admitted. “I wasn’t trying to keep you out. I just needed time.”
Jasmine exhaled sharply, then she led us out of the storage shed, then we walking back to where Shane stood.
Shane straightened when he spotted us,
She glanced at me. “And that’s why you’re leaving, isn’t it?”
I hesitated, then nodded. “Yes.”
Her shoulders dropped, and the hurt in her eyes softened into concern as she stopped walking to look at me. “Iris…”
Before she could say more, a deep voice rang out from behind us. “Meeting in the main hall. The Alpha wants everyone there now. Pass it along.”
