Too Late Alpha The Mate He Never Wanted (Iris and Eric) novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74

Jasmine was enjoying the attention. She waved to a group of men, flashing them a bright smile. They fumbled over themselves as they waved back.

“You act like you’re on a fashion runway,” I muttered under my breath.

“Darling,” she whispered back, still smiling, “life is a runway. You should own it. Push your shoulders back, bring your chin up, and pretend you own the place.”

I scoffed. “Easy for you to say. Nobody is whispering about how you might be dead by tomorrow for punching their gamma.”

She glanced at me sideways, then bumped me lightly with her elbow. “Correction, they’re whispering about how you punched Lucas and lived to tell the tale. I told you that you’re a hero.”

I groaned quietly. “How did they even hear about it? Lucas won’t go around telling people I punched him, right? And I told only you and Rowan. So how-”

Jasmine snorted. “Oh please. By that time half the pack was already up and around, you just didn’t notice them. Trust me, you throw one punch at Lucas, and the news will spread like wildfire.”

I groaned again.

The mall was a large building with several rows of shops stretched as far as I could see. There were several pack members moving around, carrying bags and going about their business, the scents of different food escaped from a cafe nearby.

I came to a stop, blinking in disbelief. “Look at how huge this mall is! Just how big is this pack?”

Jasmine shrugged, tossing her hair over her shoulder like a diva. “Big enough. You’ll get used to it.”

That didn’t answer my question, but I let it go.

Finally, we reached a boutique.

As we got inside, a woman in a fitted dress approached us immediately. Her eyes darted to Jasmine and she gave a warm smile. Then her gaze darted to me. Something crossed her face that looked like disapproval.

“Jasmine,” the woman said, smiling at her, “it’s always a pleasure.”

“Hi, Lila.” Jasmine smiled back, then gestured to me. “We need a full wardrobe for Iris here. Clothes, shoes, everything.”

Lila’s smile faded slightly, but she nodded politely. “Of course. Right this way.”

I followed them reluctantly, pretending not to notice the way her eyes stared at my bruised knuckles.
