Transmigrated to Raise Panther Cubs novel Chapter 22

Chapter 22 A Food Gathering

Matthew still hadn’t woken up. With the hide quilt covering him, only the back of his head could be seen now.

Zachary chopped down the ribs from the gruntbeast meat they had received today and cut them into small pieces. Then, he put them into the stone pot together with ginger slices, salt, and mushrooms to stew.

There were still a few clucking beast eggs left at home. After thinking for a moment, he decided to crush the wild greens they had gathered, mix them into the egg liquid, and use it to make egg pancakes.

After some time, Matthew was awakened by the smell of food. Rolling over, he opened his eyes and saw Zachary busy in front of the stone pot near the cave entrance.

The hide quilt slipped off his body with the movement. Matthew lowered his head and stared at it for two seconds, then reached out and touched it.

Outside was a pitchblack night, with cool breezes blowing, yet inside the cave it was warm, filled with the fragrance of food. His mate and cub were both here.

For a brief moment, Matthew felt as if his eyes were playing tricks on him. He sat there, stunned, staring for a long while. It felt as though he had returned to the days when both his parents were still around.

Back then, the cave had also been like this.

Matthew gulped hard and opened his mouth, but in the end said nothing.

He walked over to Zachary’s side, keeping a bit of distance between them, and watched the latter’s unique way of cooking with great seriousness.

Zachary was frying little meat jerky. He had cut a whole basin of moo beast meat, marinated it in advance with ginger slices and salt, and then slowly lowered it into the boiling oil.

Noticing Matthew’s gaze, Zachary looked up and asked, What’s wrong?

Matthew shook his head. Seeming to feel that standing there and watching was a little strange, he sat beside the firepit and added wood to it.

Seeing the flame suddenly leap up from the bottom of the pot, Zachary hurriedly reminded him, The fire should be a little smaller.

Hearing this, Matthew took the piece of wood he had just stuffed in.

Although the two of them didn’t really talk, the atmosphere was unusually harmonious.

Try it. How does it taste?Zachary smiled and picked up a fried meat strip, handing it to Matthew.

Matthew lifted his eyes and looked at him for two seconds before taking it and eating it.

The meat was firm, giving off a rich roasted aroma. Once bitten into, the fat burst out, and the more he chewed, the better it tasted.

Matthew nodded. As always, his expression barely changed as he said, It’s good.

Yael and Taylor, who had gone out for a stroll, unconsciously wandered near Matthew’s cave after catching the smell.

Yael’s nose twitched and said, What’s that smell? It smells so nice!

Taylor had already started swallowing his saliva. It’s Jaden’s Sire making delicious food again.”

Zachary?

Taylor looked toward the firelight at the cave entrance while saying. The cracklings at noon were also made by Zachary.”

Thinking of that crispy, golden food, Yael immediately began savoring the memory again.

Then, he looked at his cub and smiled mysteriously. Taylor, I have a good idea.

Knowing his own father far too well, Taylor instinctively wanted to refuse. No-.

However, Yael didn’t give Taylor any chance at all as he hooked an arm around the latter’s waist, picked him up, and strode quickly to the entrance of Matthew’s cave. Taylor tried twisting to escape, but he slowly forgot to struggle as the smell grew stronger.

Are you cooking?Standing at the cave entrance, Yael peered inside. On the surface, he was greeting Zachary, but in reality, his eyes were fixed tightly on the meat.

Hearing the voice, Zachary looked up and was a little surprised to see the pair, especially with Taylor still being carried by Yael.

The two of us were just out taking a walk, but Taylor smelled the food and ran over. I couldn’t stop him at all.” Yael put the cub down and spread his hands, sounding helpless. If I hadn’t grabbed him in time, he would have probably already run inside.

ITaylor glared at Yael, thinking how shameless Yael was.

Look at you, you’re drooling already.Yael looked like he was wiping Taylor’s mouth, but in reality, he was silencing him.

Wow, it smells so good! Zachary, what are you making?Yael finally got to the point as he craned his neck and asked.

Unable to resist, Taylor, with his little face all scrunched up in grievance, walked over to Jaden for comfort. Jaden picked up a piece of alreadyfried little meat jerky and handed it to Taylor. Careful, it’s hot.

Taylor immediately cheered up. He glanced at Yael, then waved the little meat strip in his hand. The smugness on his face couldn’t have been clearer.

Given how well he knew Yael after so many years, Matthew saw through his terrible acting with one glance.

Only then did Yael notice Matthew. Having been seen through by his childhood friend did not embarrass him in the slightest. Instead, he grinned and said, Oh, you’re here too.”

Matthew picked up a meat jerky. Unlike earlier, when he had eaten them one bite at a time, he now put it

into his mouth and deliberately chewed slowly.

Since Zachary was present, Yael restrained the urge to snatch some. Though, to be fair, he might not necessarily be able to beat Matthew anyway.

Too lazy to expose him, Matthew lifted his leg and blocked Yael’s path. It’s getting late.

Hah!Yael knew Matthew was doing it on purpose, probably taking revenge when he had nearly flunga gruntbeast into Matthew’s face during the hunt

However, the temptation of the food before him was too great. Yael’s ironlike willpower collapsed on the spot, shattering into pieces. He kept shooting Matthew looks while saying, I’ll help carry your prey nex time, okay?

Zachary knew Yael’s family had taken good care of them, and he also wanted a chance to express his thanks. However, the prey had been brought back by Matthew, so he quietly leaned close to Matthew’s ear and softly asked. Can we invite Quincy’s family to have dinner with us?

The breath by his ear was warm. Matthew’s expression turned a little unnatural as he nodded. You decide.
