Chapter 24 Resting Together
Finished
Taylor had already seen through Quincy. He turned to him instead. “Sire, take us with you. We’ll protect you and Zachary, too.”
Zachary noticed Jaden looking at him as well. He asked softly, “Do you want to go too?”
Jaden hesitated for two seconds, then nodded.
“Yael-”
“Matthew-”
Quincy and Zachary spoke at the same time.
Yael and Matthew looked at the four pleading faces in front of them before quickly giving in.
Matthew still kept a serious tone as he warned the cubs in advance. “You’re not allowed to run around tomorrow.”
Taylor and Jaden nodded right away. “We’ll behave.”
As a modern person, Zachary had a habit of walking guests out when they left. Even if it was only a few steps, he still did it.
When he turned back, he saw one big figure and one small figure squatting at the cave entrance. Matthew and Jaden both had their heads lowered as they scrubbed pots and washed bowls.
Their movements looked exactly the same.
Zachary almost laughed. At the same time, he felt a little relieved. A man who notices work that needs to be done. No, a therian who does that probably wouldn’t be too bad.
He casually brought the ginger that had been drying outside back into the cave. The mushrooms nearby were almost gone, so he would need to gather more later.
It was still too early to sleep. Zachary didn’t feel sleepy at all. After washing up, he sat by the fire and planned to finish sewing the clothes he had started that afternoon.
Matthew saw his mate sitting by the firelight with his head lowered while sewing beast–hide. He felt a little surprised.
The original Zachary didn’t know how to do this.
The clothes at home had always been made by Avery.
When Matthew moved closer, he saw the stitching clearly. The method looked unusual. The stitches were tight and dense, very neat and firm.
Sitting on the stone stool for too long made Zachary uncomfortable. It pressed against his backside and felt cold. He shifted a little.
When he looked up, he noticed the father and son both staring at him. He smiled and explained, “I’m just

trying to sew a bit.”
Finished
Zachary wasn’t sleepy, while the other two still had energy. Matthew picked up a bone knife and started sharpening it on a stone.
Jaden rested his chin on his hand while squatting on the ground. He played with the quacking beast Yael had sent over.
The cave was quiet.
Zachary had lived alone in the modern world anyway, so he didn’t feel uncomfortable. He soon focused fully on his sewing.
After some time passed, he rubbed his sore neck and yawned.
The clothes were finally finished.
Zachary shook out the beast–hide coat and held it against himself to check the size. There was no mirror, which was a pity. It should fit, though. At the very least, it would look a little more decent than what he was wearing now.
“What is that?” Matthew had been watching Zachary the whole time. The shape of the hide in his hands looked strange.
“It’s just some clothes I made.” Zachary put them on so they could see more clearly. He even turned around to show the front and back.
The clothes fit well. The collar and sleeves were sewn carefully. They looked very nice when worn, and they were light and easy to move in.
The father and son had never seen clothes like this before. Still, they both nodded honestly.
“Looks good.”
Zachary felt happy after hearing the praise. His eyes curved with a bright smile. “When I have time, I’ll make two for you guys too.”
After all, he was using the beast hides they had worked hard to hunt. He felt a little embarrassed about that.
Make clothes for us? Jaden looked shocked. Matthew also paused.
However, both of them thought Zachary had only said it casually, so they didn’t take it seriously.
Zachary happily returned to his cave while wearing the new clothes. He took them off and hung them on a wooden rack. He looked at them again and again and felt very satisfied.
Now he finally felt sleepy. He walked to the bed and was about to lie down. Suddenly, a very serious problem popped into his mind.
Where is Matthew going to sleep?

He walked to the cave entrance and secretly glanced at Matthew. After a moment, he asked carefully, “Aren’t you going to sleep?”
Matthew lifted his leg and walked inside.
Zachary watched Matthew cautiously as he stopped at the cave entrance, then beside the nearby grass mat. Zachary’s tense body relaxed immediately.
After lying down, Matthew moved slightly to the side out of habit to leave space for Jaden/
Jaden had heard Quincy’s question earlier. His expression looked conflicted: He didn’t know where he should sleep tonight.
Zachary waved at him. Sleeping with a kid felt safer. Otherwise, he probably wouldn’t even dare close his eyes tonight. He worried that his “mate” in this world might suddenly try to do something that was considered normal here.
Not to mention Zachary’s sexual orientation. The fact that this involved a human and a beast already crossed a line in his mind.
Matthew spoke to his cub. “Go to sleep.”
Zachary quickly waved at Jaden again.
Then, Jaden walked over to Zachary while Matthew watched him.
Matthew felt confused and sat up in bed.
“It’s late. Hurry and rest!” Zachary thought Matthew wanted to do something. He quickly wrapped an arm around Jaden and went into the inner cave.
A few seconds later, Zachary came back out. He carried the beast–hide Jaden had used earlier and placed it beside Matthew. “Use this under you.”
The fire in the cave was still burning strongly. The flames flickered on the stone walls.
Matthew stared at the cave ceiling. He still couldn’t understand what was happening.
Inside the inner cave, Jaden was like a little heater as he curled up in the beast–hide blanket. Before long, the whole bed felt warm.
Zachary lifted the blanket and lay down. The warmth made him squint comfortably. “Go to sleep.” He gently patted Jaden before muttering softly, “Good night.”
