Zachary laughed, bright and easy, and leaned his head against Matthew’s shoulder, throwing up a peace sign with his fingers. Matthew copied the gesture with his own two fingers, the corner of his mouth curving upward.

On the second photo, Zachary suddenly pressed a kiss to Matthew’s cheek. Matthew’s eyes lit up instantly. his smile widening even further, and the moment the shutter clicked, he kissed Zachary right back.

When Matthew saw the finished photos, he was completely smitten. He stared at them for the longest time before he finally set the phone down.

Zachary unboxed the remote control car he’d bought for Jaden, slotted in the batteries, showed the little cub how to use it, and then grabbed a change of clothes and headed for the bathroom to shower.

When the soft patter of water from the shower finally cut off, Zachary quickly reached out and shoved at Matthew, who was sprawled half on top of him.
