If only I had known that day when I caught Dominic and Celeste in the act, I would have carried a phone with me into the house. I would have videotaped them. Then I would have had leverage too. But I had been too angry, too blinded by rage, to think clearly.

But if this video went viral, I would be ruined completely. My marriage, my company, my reputation, everything.

“Don’t you care about Seraphine?” I asked, grasping at straws. “Even she cheated on you, she is still your wife. And as long as she is connected to you, if my sex video with her goes viral, you will also be shamed as a husband.”

Dominic smiled, and it was the smile of a man who had already thought of everything. “Did Seraphine not tell you? Seraphine and I are divorced. We have no affiliation with each other. Did you not see my interviews where I was asked about her?

I told everyone I did not know who she was. I am a single man now, Julian. There is nothing you can use against fne. If you try to drag me through the mud, you will be the only one who gets stained. I stood there, glaring at him, my fists clenched, my jaw tight, my entire body vibrating with a rage so pure and so absolute that I thought I might explode.

“This is not over, Dominic,” I said, my voice low. “I promise you.”

I turned and stomped out of his office, slamming the door behind me so hard that the glass panels rattled in their frames.

I was filled with so much rage as I left that building, so much helpless fury, that I could barely see straight. I got into my car and sat there, my hands gripping the steering wheel, my breath coming in short, ragged bursts, and I thought about what to do.

Dominic had all the cards. He had the video. He had Celeste. He had billions of dollars and a company that could crush mine without breaking a sweat. What did I have? Nothing. Less than nothing.

If I begged her in public, surrounded by flowers, she would understand the depth of my love for her. She would realize that what happened between me and Seraphine was just a mistake, a momentary lapse, something I regretted with every fiber of my being.

I made the call. I ordered from every flower shop in the city. I did not care what they cost. I ordered as many as I could and directed them to be delivered to Helix.

By the time all the flowers arrived and I made my way to Helix, it was almost late. Most people had already left for the day. I had wanted to do it during the daytime so it would be captured and people would see how important Celeste was to me, but the delivery had taken longer than expected.
