Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 582

She stood by the door, staring at me in shock, tears rolling down her face. Seeing her, my heart broke into pieces. I knew she must have been so worried about me, yet unable to reach me. I couldn't imagine how that must have felt for her. I noticed she was wearing a turtleneck top, covering her neck completely. Tasha never dressed like that. Was she okay?

Sparrow suddenly got up and began to walk out, but I stopped him. "Wait, Sparrow."

Meanwhile, Tasha started walking slowly toward me, tears still in her eyes, but I smiled at her warmly to assure her that nothing was wrong.

"Sparrow," I said, "I want you two to make peace. To be sure there's no anger between you two, I want you to hug Tasha."

I had to make sure Sparrow was not still mad at Tasha for the kneeling incident yesterday.

He glared at me and opened his mouth to speak, but I held up a hand. "Don't argue with a patient."

He smiled at me, then reached out and patted Tasha's head lovingly. Then he turned and walked out of the room.

The moment he left, Tasha hurried to my bedside and dropped to her knees. "What happened? Are you okay?"

"Don't worry," I told her. "My blood pressure shot up, that's why I'm here. But I'll be fine in no time."

Pain gripped my heart. Without thinking, I pulled out my IV and climbed out of the bed. My legs felt weak beneath me, but I forced myself down onto my knees beside Tasha and took her tear-streaked face in both hands. Her face was already red from crying so hard.

Seeing her like that, my heart began pounding hard in my chest, and a wave of strong rage took over me. I stared into her eyes and seethed. "Tell me exactly what that snake did to you. Trust me, I will make her suffer a hundred times more."

But just then, Sparrow's angry voice snapped from the door. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Tasha? Don't you know Scarlett is a patient?"

We both turned in his direction. He stood by the door, a tray of food in one hand, unmistakable rage burning in his eyes.
