Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 596

"No. The moment I name the city, I kill the surprise."

"Fine. I'll wait." I glanced at the clock on the dash. "We still have time. It's not so bad if we leave early, right? We already had lunch."

"Yeah, I suppose we did." He looked at me sideways. "Though you barely finished your food. Was it not nice?"

"It was lovely. You, on the other hand, didn't eat a thing. Was it not to your taste?"

He smiled, slow and wolfish. "It wasn't that it wasn't nice. It's just that there was something far more appetizing on the table.

Or should I say...Someone."

"Someone." The blush raced up my face again and I turned to the window, watching the shopfronts blur past as I said inwardly. I'm far too old to be blushing like this. Far too old.

He started the car, chuckling, and pulled back into traffic. "We're going to the hangar first. I made arrangements for the trip."

We drove out of the city center, past rows of warehouses, until the road ran straight toward a cluster of hangars. He pulled up at one whose gate rolled open the moment his car approached, and inside, under the high curved roof, sat a row of aircraft, sleek bodies gleaming under strip lights. I must have looked like a child in a candy store because he laughed.

"Any guess which one is mine?"

I walked past them slowly, one after another, and stopped in front of the one with the white, blue, and red design, beautiful and impossibly elegant under the lights. "That one?"
