"No. It's the pregnancy I told you I had removed."
He stared at me again, his shock deepening. "For real? You're still pregnant?"
"Yes. I tried to get rid of it, but the abortion failed. The pregnancy is still viable."
He was quiet for a long moment. "Why did you lie to me?"
I looked down, the tears falling fast. "I was scared that if you found out about it, you would want to be with me out of obligation. Especially after hearing about Sharon, I was scared that I would end up spending the rest of my life with a man who felt trapped by my pregnancy."
"Pat." He took my face in his hands, lifting my eyes to his. "Don't you know my personality by now? I would never be with a woman simply because she was pregnant with my child. I could be a father to the child without being a husband to the woman. I'm not the type of man to resign himself to a life of unhappiness. And besides, before I even understood the depth of my feelings for you, my heart had already chosen you. I realized it really early that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you."
Tears fell from my eyes, hot and unstoppable. "I'm sorry for keeping something so big from you. It was your right to know from the very start."
He pulled me into his arms and hugged me tight. "I'm not upset with you, Pat. Back then, I betrayed your trust. Perhaps that is exactly why you couldn't bring yourself to tell me."
He held my face in his hands. "I made mistakes before, so how could I bear to fault you in any way?"
He kissed my forehead again and smiled. "Thank you for giving me such pleasant news on such a joyous occasion. This is double reason for joy."

I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
