Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 611

"Temporary?"

"Yes." I kept my voice soft. "Don't get so worked up, Julian. Don't ruin the memory of the passionate night we shared."

He folded his arms tighter. "What exactly are you even doing in my house, Seraphine? What do you want? You have all the money you could ever need. You can travel around the world, go wherever you want. So what do you want here?"

I couldn't understand why he was questioning me so much. The Julian I knew, the Julian I remembered, was so easy to control, so easy to fool as long as I made him feel like he was the one in control. But this Julian seemed to have gotten wiser.

"Get off my bed," he said. "Get dressed, and get the fuck out of my house."

"Why are you kicking me out?"

"Because I don't need you."

"But we're literally in the same boat." I sat up, holding the sheet to my chest. "You want Celeste back, and I want Dominic back. I came here because I need an ally. If we work together, we can actually succeed."

He chuckled, a dry, bitter sound. "Why would I want to work with a lunatic like you? If I hadn't cheated with you in the first place, Celeste would still be my wife, and we would have been happy. You're the one who seduced me and ruined my happy marriage, and now you want to come here and ruin my carefully laid plans?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I have plans of my own, and I don't need any useless person ruining them while claiming we're working together." He yanked open the wardrobe and began pulling my clothes out, throwing them at me one by one. "How would Celeste ever take me back if she found out I now live with the same Seraphine who ruined our marriage? Get the hell out of my house."
