He raised an eyebrow.
"I was robbed," I said, letting my voice tremble. "I lost all the money I had saved in my account. I haven't been traveling. I've been hiding at my mother's because the robbery traumatized me, and I got so scared those people would come for me again. Until now, I'm still scared to be alone. But more than that, I desperately need money, and you're the only option I have."
He scoffed. "If you're struggling with trauma, go talk to a shrink. And if you're in dire need of money, go ask the bank for a loan. If that doesn't work, go find some random bastard who has no use for his money and open your legs for him. We both know that's what you're good for."
"Julian..."
"Or here's a better option." He cut me off. "You can go kneel for your billionaire ex-husband. He'll definitely throw some dollar bills at you. But you're getting out of my house today."
Every effort I made to bring him around was in vain. He stuffed all my clothes into my bag, not even giving me a chance to wash up or dress properly. I was wearing only my lingerie, and he grabbed my arm, dragged me out of the bedroom, through the living room, and threw me out of his house, my bag flying out after me.
I landed on the walkway, my palms scraping against the concrete, and I scrambled to my feet. I pulled out one of my long dresses, yanked it over my head, and turned to face his door. "Mark my words, Julian!" I shouted, my voice shaking with rage. "You will die a very horrible death!"
He opened the door just enough to stick his head out. "Good riddance to bad rubbish!"
Then he slammed the door shut.
I made it back to the motel with my dignity in shreds and my skin still smelling like Julian's cologne. The room reeked of bleach, and I stood in the middle of it, trembling with rage, replaying every wasted second of the night I had given that ungrateful bastard for free.
Then my phone rang.
I glanced at the screen and cursed under my breath. Mum. I had completely forgotten about the woman who gave birth to me.
I picked up on the fourth ring.
"Seraphine!" Her voice came through like a siren.

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
