Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 633

She stood by the door, staring at me with pure venom in her eyes. I kept smiling. It was a beautiful smile, and I knew exactly how much it must have burned her.

Felix came out of the guest room and went straight to the fridge. He poured a glass of juice, brought it over, and handed it to me with both hands, like it was an offering.

I took it and smiled up at him warmly. "Thank you, Felix."

He smiled back, and I saw Sierra's face twist. She turned and stomped down the hall into what must have been their bedroom, and I rolled my eyes in mockery as I took a sip of my juice. What is this one trying to do now?

She came back out a minute later, dragging a suitcase behind her.

Felix was on his feet in an instant, alarm all over his face. "What is the meaning of this, Sierra? What do you think you're doing?"

"I won't stay in this house with this woman." She dragged the suitcase past him. "You already killed my child once. I won't allow my baby to live in an environment that isn't safe. Either this woman leaves, or I leave."

"Come on, Sierra." He moved toward her, hands out, trying to coax her. "If I abandon Seraphine and something happens to her, I'll regret it for the rest of my life."

He reached for her hand, but she snatched it away.

"Choose." Her voice was stone. "Either me or her."

"Sierra."

"And remember it's not just me, Felix. Your unborn child is also involved. You failed the first one." Her voice cracked. "Are you going to fail the second one too?"

He stood there for a long moment. Then he turned and looked at me, and my heart dropped. There was something uncertain in his eyes now, something calculating. Was he really going to change his mind?

"Seraphine." He said my name carefully, like he was testing it. "Is it really not possible for you to be in a hotel for the time being? I promise I'll get you a hotel that's safe. A hotel where no one will be able to find you."
