Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 669

TASHA

Daniel pulled me inside and shut the door. Then he pushed me away gently.

"Tasha, listen, we..."

I didn't let him finish. I got both fists in his shirt front, hauled myself up and crashed my mouth into his, and my fingers went straight to his buttons, working them fast and clumsy while he made a startled sound into the kiss and put a hand on my shoulder.

Then he broke off and held me back at arm's length, and I actually swayed forward trying to follow his mouth.

"What's wrong with you?" He was breathing hard, hair pushed back, shirt hanging open to the chest.

"Big Bryan drugged me." The words came out thick, my eyes heavy and dragging over his mouth while I said them. "Injected it in my neck. It's still in me."

He opened his mouth to say something sensible and I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him again, and this time he didn't push me off.

His arm banded around my waist and pulled, and the whole front of me pressed into the whole front of him and my nipples dragged against his open shirt and my leg came up around his hip without asking permission. He made a low noise, almost a growl, and his mouth slid off mine and down along my jaw and toward my ear, and every hair on my body stood up.

"God," I gasped. "Yes, right there, don't stop."

His lips brushed the shell of my ear. He took a breath.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry for wha..."

A hand suddenly struck the back of my neck, quick and precise, and the light went out.

___

I came up out of the dark slowly, in pieces, first the sound of my own pulse, then the fact of a mattress under me, then the soft, high whine of an air conditioner somewhere above.

I lay still for a moment with my cheek on the pillow, and the fire was gone. Banked. My body felt like a room after a party, furniture pushed out of place, and the deep empty ache between my thighs had faded to something distant.

I turned my head.

I wasn't alone.

Daniel sat at the far end of the room on a low couch, but he wasn't alone either. A man stood beside him, a satchel at his feet, plainly mid-conversation, and both of them stopped and looked over when I moved.

The room was enormous. Bigger than the last hotel by double, a wide expanse of carpet between the bed and the windows, a dresser the length of a wall, glass lamps, the kind of suite where the furniture had been chosen by someone paid very well to make people feel expensive.

My wig had come off. It lay on the floor in a heap and my own hair was loose and stuck across half my face.
