"Mr. Melendez, I'll be careful."

"Okay."

After the call, Emmett found Elio's number. He wanted to dial it, but he put down his phone and left the study.

"Clara, I'm heading to the office for a bit. You keep hanging out with the kids today and go back to work when you're rested." Emmett tied his tie and gently patted her shoulder, "I'll be back asap, ring me if there's anything."

"Alright, go ahead. Don’t worry about me."

Clara watched as Emmett left, until his car disappeared from view before she turned around.

At this point, Sophia came over and whispered, "Can I talk to you for a sec?"

Clara was taken aback and quickly nodded, "Of course."

"Don't be nervous, I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm just wondering, do you genuinely love my son, Emmett?"

This question left Clara a bit lost for words.

Because if she said she loved Emmett now, she definitely would be lying.

Emmett had been straight with her, told her not to lie, which was obvious to anyone.

"But when I see how much the kids adore you, it warms my heart. I know you must treat them well, or else they wouldn't be so fond of you." Speaking of her grandkids, Sophia couldn't help but sigh, "Alex is alright, he's been with his mom since he was little. Even though it’s not as plush as the Melendez household, he wouldn't lack motherly love. But Aiden... he's really had it rough. When he started to speak, he always called for his mom, and it breaks my heart every time he does that."

"You see how mature Aiden is. The more mature he is, the more it breaks my heart. I don't expect you to treat him like his biological mother, but I hope you can be extra nice to him, let him feel the love of a mother."

"Don't worry, I'll take care of Aiden as if he's my own!"

Sophia nodded, relieved, "Hearing that puts my mind at ease! Also, don't think of Alex and Aiden as a burden! The Melendez family is super stable financially, raising two kids won't be a burden for you guys. Me and their grandpa can take care of them! You guys can have more kids if you want, or not, it's up to you, we won't interfere."
