If... if she was carrying Elio's child, that would be madness!
Rose noticed the look on Clara's face and quickly said, "You're not really pregnant, are you? Is it the young master's child?"
"I don't know, I don't know anything."
Clara, as if drained of all strength, collapsed onto the floor.
Frightened, Rose quickly went to her aid, "If you're really carrying the young master's child, that's great news! You could leave the servant quarters!"
Rose carried on, "It's like a blessing from the heavens, not wanting you to suffer anymore!"
Suddenly, Clara grabbed Rose's arm, her voice shaky, "Can you find a way to get me a pregnancy test? Nothing is certain right now."
She'd been attributing her missed periods to stress, what with all the chaos recently.
She'd experienced this before, back when her father would cause trouble and she had to hide from debt collectors with her child. Her period would miss for several months then, so she didn't think it was unusual.
But now, it seemed more likely than not that she was pregnant.
She had a hunch!
Rose hesitated, but finally nodded, "Okay, I'll get it for you."
As someone who'd never even dated, buying a pregnancy test was somewhat embarrassing.
But seeing Clara's state, she was determined to help.
With that, she opened the door and headed towards Emmett's bedroom.
The butler was taken aback. Seeing Clara completely ignoring his words, he could only leave, slamming the door shut in frustration.
Clara just sat on the edge of the bed, stunned.
The word 'pregnant' felt like a heavy stone pressing down on her!
If after taking the test tomorrow, she found out she was pregnant, what should she do? It was clear that the child was Elio's, not Emmett's!
Keeping the child was not an option.
But to get an abortion, she would have to leave the Melendez household, and right now, her only hope was Leah's help!
