Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 18

"Dominic, I'm back in the country."

On the other side of town.

Seraphina stared at her darkened phone screen, her fingers growing cold.

Dominic's parting words—"do you really think you deserve that?"—felt like a needle piercing straight through her heart.

She suddenly found the whole situation laughable.

Did she deserve it?

For six years, she had woken up early and stayed up late, dedicating her life to serving his family. And in the end, all she got was a callous, "Do you deserve it?"

Seraphina's lips twitched upward, but the smile never reached her eyes.

Chelsea leaned over, her brow furrowed in concern.

"What did he say this time?"

Seraphina set her phone down. "He accused me of playing hard to get and said I don't deserve half the assets."

Chelsea slammed her hand on the table.

"Is he out of his mind?"

Seraphina sighed, picking up her glass to take a sip of water.

The warm liquid slid down her throat, suppressing the bitter wave of despair rising in her chest.

Chelsea reached out and grabbed her hand.

"Seraphina, don't let it get to you." Chelsea's voice softened. "He's not worth a single one of your tears."

Seraphina blinked. Her eyes stung fiercely, but she forced the tears back down.

"I'm not crying. I just feel like... it was all so pointless."

Six years.

She had turned her entire life into a pathetic joke.

Chelsea tightened her grip.

"Come on, let's head to my place to hang out. The renovations on my new house are finally done. I keep telling you to come see it, but you never have."

Seraphina looked up at her.

Chelsea offered a bright, cheering smile. "Let's go. We'll head over right now. You can crash at my place tonight, and I'll have my housekeeper make you some dessert."

The corners of Seraphina's lips curved upward.

Not far ahead, a familiar figure stood by the main lobby entrance, hands planted firmly on her hips as she argued with the property management staff, a look of profound annoyance plastered across her face.

It was Yvette.

Seraphina's brow furrowed slightly.

Chelsea spotted her too, her expression immediately darkening.

"Why is she literally everywhere?" Chelsea muttered, her voice dripping with disgust.

Before Seraphina could reply, Yvette turned around, her eyes locking straight onto her.

Yvette froze for a second, then her lips curled into a sneer as she stomped aggressively toward them.

"Seraphina, you really are like a ghost that won't go away." Yvette crossed her arms, her tone laced with venom.

Seraphina stared at her impassively, remaining silent.

Yvette let out a cold huff, tilting her chin even higher.

"I wanted to say this back at the hotel: what gave you the right to skip the line? You used our family name, didn't you?"

She grew more energized the more she spoke, jabbing a finger in Seraphina's direction. "You're so used to leeching off the Lockwoods that you've come all the way here to leech some more."

"Do you even know what kind of place this is? Yet you still have the nerve to show your face here."
