"I remember everything about you," Dominic Lockwood said, patting the back of her hand.
Cynthia Ross's lips curved upward as her gaze landed on Seraphina Sinclair once more.
Her eyes held unapologetic provocation.
So what if she could play the flute like a master? When it came to things of true value, she wouldn't even get a turn in line.
Standing a few steps away, Chelsea Sterling grinded her teeth.
"That trash bag and his mistress are putting on a whole soap opera just for making a donation."
Seraphina said nothing. Her calm gaze remained fixed on the musical score in Ethan Harrington's hands.
Before long, Ethan walked off the stage, holding the manuscript.
Cynthia's eyes gleamed. She quickly straightened her posture, making sure her smile was perfectly elegant and restrained.
She took a half-step forward, radiating poise, the anticipation on her lips measured just right.
She had even prepared her acceptance speech in her head.
Ethan was getting closer.
Thrilled, Cynthia took another step toward him.
Noticing her movement, Ethan offered her a polite nod.
Cynthia's heart hammered wildly. Just as she was about to reach out her hand, Ethan's footsteps abruptly pivoted, bypassing her entirely.
Cynthia's hand froze mid-air.
She snapped her head around, watching in disbelief as Ethan navigated through the crowd and walked in a completely different direction.
Her eyes tracked his back until he finally came to a stop in front of someone.
It was Seraphina!
Cynthia completely lost her composure.
How is this possible...
Ethan stood still and offered the musical score to Seraphina with both hands.
Seraphina looked at him and smiled softly. "Master."
Ethan nodded. "Apprentice. You finally came to see your old teacher."
It was as if someone had hit the mute button on the entire hall.
Cynthia's eyes widened to the point of tearing.
"If she had stayed in the industry back then, no one else would even stand a chance today."
Cynthia ground her teeth so hard her jaw ached, the fiery rage in her chest threatening to explode.
She gripped Dominic's arm tightly. "Dominic, when did she become Mr. Harrington's apprentice? How could I not know about this?"
Dominic was still staring blankly in that direction, a look of profound amazement in his eyes.
Following his gaze, Cynthia felt her heart sink completely.
She squeezed his arm forcefully. "Dominic?"
Dominic finally pulled his eyes away. "I didn't know either."
Cynthia felt like she had hit rock bottom.
The people around them were already rushing forward to offer their congratulations, showering Seraphina with endless flattery.
Are you kidding me? This was Aria!
Everyone assumed that after she left the industry, they would never hear her work again. Who would have thought she would actually show up today!
If they didn't take the chance to chat her up now, they might never get an opportunity like this again.
