"You won by using dirty tricks. That's hardly an honorable victory. If you really want this prize, you'll have to race me."
The moment his words landed, Gideon's icy voice cut through the tension from behind them. "Bullying a woman. How incredibly classy."
Dominic's eyelid twitched, and he pressed his lips together in stiff silence.
Seraphina simply smiled. "It's fine, Gideon. I'll race him."
She secured her helmet and looked squarely at Dominic. "If you're so desperate to embarrass yourself, I'm happy to oblige."
With that, she turned on her heel and strode back toward the starting line.
The track was quickly prepped for another round.
This time, there were five cars. Aside from Dominic, all the participants were female, save for one other male driver.
The window of that particular car rolled down, revealing the face of a young man.
Seraphina recognized him immediately.
It was Felix Zane, the youngest son of the wealthy Zane family in Northport. Years ago, he had been a regular at a racing club with Cynthia.
The two had been thick as thieves back then, and rumors of their romantic entanglement had frequently circulated in high society.
His sudden presence here was definitely not a coincidence.
Interesting.
Seraphina withdrew her gaze, strapped on her helmet, and settled into the driver's seat.
The second race erupted into motion.
This time, Seraphina didn't immediately gun for the lead.
Cool and collected, she held back, meticulously observing the movements of the other drivers.
Just as she predicted, the moment they cleared the first turn, Felix's gray car aggressively swerved right toward her.
His maneuver was far more vicious than Cynthia's clumsy attempt; it was a blatantly predatory strike meant to total her car.
Watching the scene unfold in his rearview mirror, Dominic maintained a frigid expression and slammed his foot on the gas, speeding away from the chaos.
Catching his retreat in her peripheral vision, Seraphina let out a dark sneer.
She tapped her brakes, allowing her car to slip back just a fraction of an inch, effortlessly dodging Felix's lethal assault.
Not only did she evade him, but she also smoothly clipped his rear bumper, leaving a massive, debilitating dent in his chassis.
However, tangling with Felix had cost her precious momentum. Her speed dropped significantly.
Seraphina's gaze hardened into absolute focus. She rapidly recalibrated her gears, preparing to aggressively hunt Dominic down.
Furious that his attack had been so casually swatted away, Felix cranked his steering wheel, desperate to pursue her.
