Gideon gave him a single, passing glance before heading toward the laundry room with the clothes.
On the outside, he looked cool as a cucumber, but inside, he was feeling incredibly smug.
Thank God he had dismissed the private nurse early. That was the only reason he had the opportunity to organize these clothes himself.
Seeing Tristan look like he was about to blow a gasket only made Gideon's triumph sweeter.
Perfect. Killing two birds with one stone.
As he reached the door, he suddenly stopped.
Tristan was still sitting right by the bed. There was no way he was going to leave him alone with Seraphina.
He stepped backward into the room and reached for the call button above the bed, pretending he was going to page the nurse to take the laundry.
Tristan scoffed. "Mr. Cole, those clothes were perfectly fine sitting in the changing room. Since you've already taken them out, you might as well take them down to the laundry room yourself."
Gideon's finger hovered over the call button, a dark glint flashing through his eyes.
With Tristan calling him out like that, it really would be awkward to call someone else in now.
He pulled his hand back, his voice smooth and utterly polite. "You make a fair point, Mr. Spencer. I am more than happy to do it myself. However, since you're here, perhaps you wouldn't mind doing us a favor and fetching some water?"
"We need the freshly brewed tea from the ground floor cafeteria. Seraphina prefers that specific kind."
Seraphina looked completely baffled.
Since when did she have a preference for cafeteria tea?
Water was just water, wasn't it?
She let out an awkward laugh. "It doesn't matter, really, I'm not in a rush..."
"Of course."
Gideon looked squarely at Tristan. "If Mr. Spencer thinks it's too much trouble, he doesn't have to go."
Tristan stood up, his smile completely flawless. "You're joking, Mr. Cole. I would be more than happy to."
He turned back to Seraphina, his voice softening considerably. "Get some rest. I'll go get your water right now."
Gideon chimed in smoothly. "If you need to use the restroom again, don't move a muscle. Wait for me to get back."
