Gideon didn't even glance at him, keeping his focus entirely on Seraphina.

Seraphina felt a momentary flash of awkwardness under his gaze, but if he actually expected her to apologize for the slap, she absolutely wouldn't do it.

Just as she was bracing herself, Gideon looked at her hand, his voice thick with concern. "Does your hand hurt?"

Seraphina blinked in surprise.

Gideon continued, "Next time, just grab whatever is nearby to hit her with. Don't use your bare hands. You might injure yourself."

Staring into his dead-serious eyes, Seraphina froze for two seconds before she completely lost it and burst out laughing.

Dominic's face turned an ugly shade of purple. "Uncle Gideon, don't you think that's taking it too far?"

Gideon finally turned his head and looked at him. "If she hits someone, then it must be because that person deserved it."

Seraphina was genuinely stunned.

Was she really being protected this unconditionally?

Dominic clenched his fists so tight his knuckles turned white. "Uncle Gideon, you have to be somewhat reasonable here."

Gideon's eyes darkened menacingly. "This is Seraphina's private room. You barged in uninvited."

He pointed a sharp finger directly at Cynthia. "And her especially. Do not try to tell me she came here out of the goodness of her heart. She obviously came here looking for a fight."

Seraphina's eyes sparkled. A man who could see right through fake tears was incredibly attractive.

His words were brutally blunt. Dominic stood there with his fists clenched, entirely at a loss for words.

Gideon lowered his hand, his tone shifting back to a slow, icy indifference. "Seraphina was just in a horrific car crash. She lost a massive amount of blood. You walk in here, don't even bother to ask how she's doing or check her injuries, and your first instinct is to demand she apologize?"

His oppressive gaze bored into Dominic. "What kind of logic is that?"

Dominic couldn't say a single word.

He had never heard his uncle say so many words in front of other people in his entire life.

Gideon's expression grew even colder. "Get out."

Dominic's jaw ticked. Normally, if he saw that specific look on his uncle's face, he would have backed down immediately.
