Cynthia Ross walked in holding a tray, followed closely by an assistant pushing a cart overflowing with fresh fruit and beverages.

A gentle smile graced her face as she spoke softly. "You've all been working so hard for hours, you must be exhausted. I had some snacks and fruit prepared. Please, take a short break."

The room plummeted into a heavy, two-second silence.

A few executives exchanged glances, instinctively furrowing their brows.

Carrying a small fruit platter, she walked straight over to Dominic. "Dominic, you should take a breather too. Have some fruit."

Dominic's expression darkened, clearly displeased by her presumptuous intrusion.

Ignoring his stony reaction, Cynthia turned her head slightly, her gaze dropping to the open contract resting on the table.

She quickly scanned a few lines, her pupils contracting imperceptibly.

Conceding ten percent of the profits.

She unconsciously tightened her grip on the tray.

She had heard of this Orca project. Half the industry was clamoring for a piece of the pie, so securing it for Lockwood's was an undeniable victory.

But seeing in black and white that Lockwood's was voluntarily surrendering ten percent of its profits ignited a fierce resentment within her.
