Half an hour later, a black sedan parked at the entrance of Laurel Heights.
Dominic got out and walked quickly toward the residential complex, but was stopped by the security guard at the gate.
"Sir, please show your access pass."
Dominic frowned. "I'm here to visit someone."
"Are you a resident here?"
"No."
"I'm sorry, sir. Visiting hours are over. Without prior registration and authorization from a resident, you cannot enter."
Dominic froze for a second.
When had he, the prestigious CEO of the Lockwood Group, ever been stopped at a door like this?
In the past, he would have found it absurd, but right now, he didn't even have the energy to get angry.
He simply gazed inside, his voice hoarse.
"I'm looking for Seraphina Sinclair."
The guard shook his head. "I'm sorry, sir. We cannot disclose resident information. If you know someone living here, you can ask them to come out and get you."
Dominic subconsciously pulled out his phone.
But the moment he found Seraphina's number, he froze again.
What right did he have to call her?
She had finally managed to rid herself of him and start living the life she wanted.
What would it mean for him to suddenly show up now?
Besides, he didn't even know if she wanted to see him.
Thinking of this, Dominic's hand slowly dropped to his side.
Seeing that he remained silent, the guard returned to his post.
And so Dominic stood outside the gate, staring blankly through the barrier at the brightly lit buildings inside.
They were only a few steps away, but he suddenly felt as though there was an uncrossable chasm between him and Seraphina.
Once, she had waited for him for six whole years.
Now, he finally wanted to turn back.
