Chapter 31 Mutant Birds
مجر
Ding! “Energy-1. EXP +10. Target stats: Francis Quirk. Age: 18. Physique: 16. Strength: 12, Agility: 12, Energy: 14. Level 1 Purification Ability User (Talent).”
Damn it! Just a level 1 ability user, yet after I harvested him a few times, he still has stats like this. Life’s not fair.
“Stop talking nonsense!”
Francis finally snapped. “When did we ever hide high-grade pure meat?”
“You sure?” Reina shot back. “Why don’t we go search your team’s place? You can search mine too.”
She was 100% sure Francis’s team had hidden a bunch of purified high-level beast meat,
Francis froze. He glanced at Easton without thinking.
Last night, their team had stockpiled a lot of Level 2 and Level 3 mutant beast meat-about 80 to 90 pounds. He stayed up all night purifying it. If someone found it…
Easton stayed quiet, face stiff, staring at Reina with a dark look.
“What, scared? Feeling guilty, Francis?” Reina sneered. “Coward.” Then she slung on her backpack and left.
If there weren’t so many people around, she would’ve taught him a lesson!
By now, Caleb could tell what was going on. That limping kid was clearly stirring trouble on purpose, trying to get people to go after that girl.
Caleb had led hundreds of people before. Guys like this-dumb but scheming-were easy to read.
Still, that girl’s ability looked pretty good. She could take out that much mutant beast meat with low contamination at once. It probably had something to do with her Harvesting Ability.
He was thinking about bringing her back to his unit to check, but she had already grabbed her bag and
headed out.
“Hey! Wait!”
Caleb rushed after her and reached out to stop her, but she suddenly dashed off and disappeared in seconds.
That speed? It was almost like a Level 2 Speed Ability User.
Caleb awkwardly pulled his hand back. Then he turned to Francis. “You’re Francis, right? What level is your Purification Ability?”
Reina didn’t care what Caleb did next, or if he tried to recruit Francis. She didn’t even wait for Chloe. She ran straight to Building 7.
Dylan and Sasha were already clearing bugs in their assigned area. Reina joined them and started spraying with a flamethrower.

Chapter 31 Mutant Birds
Most of these disgusting bugs were Level 1 mutant insects-no value to harvest.
Just then, Chloe came running back. She leaned in close and whispered, “Hey, I heard something. Francis and his whole crew just got recruited by the Falcon Mercenary Corps.”
Reina wasn’t surprised. After the scene she just made, she had basically handed Francis right over to Falcon Mercenary Corps.
In that dream, she and a bunch of ability users were locked in the Catgirl Club’s basement, and she heard the researchers’ chatter every day.
They used ability users’ blood to make awakening potions, then sold them at high prices to people who hadn’t awakened yet.
And Falcon Mercenary Corps was one of their partners.
That meant Falcon both bought and sold. They supplied ability users’s blood to the researchers, and also bought awakening potions from them.
“Man, I wish I had an ability too. I’d sign up for Falcon Mercenary Corps,” Chloe said with a sigh.
It was the biggest force in the base. People said the benefits were great, and you could even bring your family to live in the inner city.
Reina stayed quiet for a moment, then said softly, “What’s so great about Falcon Mercenary Corps? Even if you awaken someday, don’t go there.”
“Why not?” Chloe asked, confused, staring at her.
Reina let out a dry laugh. “Because you’re a girl. Your combat ability is limited. Your only value there might be as a blood bag.”
She really wanted to tell Chloe where those awakening potions came from.
But for someone who hadn’t awakened, they wouldn’t get it. All they cared about was whether they could
awaken.
“What’s a blood bag?” Chloe asked, curious.
Reina said, “Exactly what it sounds like. A bag of blood.”
Chloe scratched her head, still confused.
Just then, the sky started to get dark.
“Crap! A flock of mutant birds is coming!” someone shouted.
Reina looked up. A huge swarm of mutant birds was flying in from the distance, covering the sky and blocking out the dim sunlight.
“Oh my God, that many mutant birds?” people gasped.
“Get inside!” Dylan shouted. He grabbed Chloe and Reina and ran, with Sasha right behind them.
