The burly man took a deep breath and said seriously, “Miss, do you still have any left? A lot of people in our unit are hurt, and we want to buy Level 3 mutant beast meat to replenish energy.”
“No.”
“No?” The moment he heard that, the burly man’s expression twisted and his eyes turned cold. “Kid, it’s not smart to lie to me at a time like this.”
Reina’s face hardened too. “I said I don’t have any. Do I have a reason to lie?”
Then she tossed Eye of Insight at him.
“Energy-1. Insight EXP +10. Target attributes, Caleb Donovan, bone age 32, Physique 12, Strength 25, Agility 15, Energy 25, Level 2 Strength Awakener”
Shit, he actually has a Level 2 Strength talent, and his Physique and Strength are both higher than mine.
Reind could not help taking a step back to keep a safe distance.
He looked like the kind of guy with a bad temper. If he snapped and hit someone, her small frame would not take even one punch.
“Then where did you get your Level 3 meat?”
Caleb kept hitting dead ends, and his mood was getting worse. His tone turned even sharper. “Who did you sell the rest to?”
Reina was speechless.
Why is he interrogating me like a criminal?
She wanted to say it was none of his business, but the words changed as they reached her mouth. “I found it outside. I exchanged it all at the camp. There’s nothing left.”
To prove she was not lying, she made up another excuse,
“It was too dark last night, so I only got two pieces, about 70 or 80 pounds total. When I went back later, I couldn’t find anything”
After one night, every mutant beast corpse in the yard had probably been chewed clean by bugs. Only the black skeletons were left. If they wanted evidence, they could go look for it. They would not find any.
Caleb stared at Reina for a while. Seeing no flaws in her story, his heart sank.
Looks like she really doesn’t have any Level 3 mutant beast meat left.
So what now?
No potions, and no mid-to-high-grade low-contamination mutant beast meat either What are those critically wounded people with drained mental power supposed to use to fight off injuries and sickness?
Just one day ago, I wouldn’t have even looked twice at Level 3 mutant beast meat. Who knew that after one night, everything would spiral out of control.

Chapter 30 Not Happening
Those animals who hoarded supplies deserve to die.
The more Caleb thought about it, the angrier he got. He turned and started walking out.
Forget it. He would go find that bastard Victor Langley instead.
After only a few steps, several people walked up from the other direction and blocked his path.
One of them, a young man with a limp, said, “Captain Donovan, you shouldn’t believe this woman’s lies.”
Caleb narrowed his eyes at him. “What are you saying?”
“Her talent is Harvesting Ability.”

The one speaking was Francis. He stood to the side of Easton and the others, leaning on a cane, his gaze provocative as he looked at Reina.
“Her abilitiy is weird. She used to harvest mid-to-low contamination value plants all the time. We saw it with our own eyes. And now, she might be able to get low contamination value mutant beast meat, too.”
The moment he said that, everyone there looked at Reina-some greedy, some curious.
Caleb studied the girl in front of him too, his eyes flickering. “Is what he said true?”
There were all kinds of strange abilities in this world. Maybe this girl really could purify highly contaminated food.
“Then ask him.” Reina snapped back, and the anger in her chest surged.
Francis, right? You have officially gotten my attention!
Caleb was speechless.
Francis thought he had Reina cornered and kept fanning the flames. “Reina, stop pretending. What’s the point of hiding your ability? Are you really going to watch Captain Donovan’s teammates die?
“They got hurt protecting everyone. You can’t be this selfish and hide all the Level 3 mutant beast meat you got.”
Reina let out two dry chuckles, but doubt crept into her heart.
Did this guy see through my ability?
That can’t be possible, right?
She walked up to Francis slowly. Before he could step back, she slapped a hand on his shoulder.
“Wow! Francis, you’re so noble. If I remember right, your talent is purification, right? You can purify highly contaminated items, so you must be hiding plenty of high-tier mutant beast meat with zero contamination Why don’t you hand it all over to Captain Donovan and save some lives?”
