Chapter 54 A Sweet Trap

“Deliver her ourselves? How?”

“That brat is ridiculously strong. Even if the three of us team up, we can’t overpower her. How are we supposed to bring her to the club?”

Stella smiled slyly. “Aren’t there sleeping pills? We can just buy some from a pharmacy and slip it into her

food.

“Then we go pick her up from the hospital, say we’re taking her home to recover. No one will question {t.”

Helen frowned, thinking it over. Then she slapped her thigh. “Alright! Let’s do it! I’ll go buy the medicine right now.”

She stood and headed for the door.

Stella quickly grabbed her. “Mom, don’t say anything unnecessary when you buy it. The fewer people who know about this, the better. What if the club backs out because it’s troublesome?”

“I know, I’m not stupid.” Helen shook off her hand and left.

Stella closed the door behind her, a faint smile curling her lips.

What a perfect day. The awakening potion she had been dreaming about was finally within reach.

She walked over to the mirror and gazed at her beautiful reflection, already imagining her future.

“As long as I gain an ability… With this face, what kind of man wouldn’t fall for me? If I can marry into one of those powerful families, my children will be born at the top and enjoy the best resources.”

She had heard that those elite families even possessed longevity secrets-methods that allowed people to live one or two hundred years without aging.

That temptation outweighed everything. It was the main reason she was so determined to become an ability

user.

Stella gently touched her face, which was her greatest pride.

It was fair, smooth, and flawless.

Com Combined with her delicate features, she was perfection itself.

Her mother had always said she resembled her father, and perhaps she was even more beautiful than he

had been.

Unfortunately, he had died too early, leaving behind no resources. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be in such a miserable situation now, so poor that she could not even afford a single gene-awakening potion.

After wallowing in self-pity for a moment, Stella thought of Reina’s dark, rough, and plain face. A sense of superiority rose within her.

“Reina, even if you have an ability, what’s the point when you look like that? No matter how hard you try, no

one will like you. What’s the point of living? You might as well be useful and fulfill your little sister instead.

The girl smiled smugly, as if she had already reached the peak of her life.

Two days passed in a flash.

Reina’s leg had mostly healed, and she could already walk again.

That was largely thanks to the healer she had hired.

In just two days, for five thousand points, her injured leg had recovered almost completely. To Reina, it was worth every point.

On the morning of the third day, after the attending doctor finished rounds, Reina packed her things and was ready to be discharged. Then, two unexpected visitors arrived.

“Reina, why didn’t you tell me you were hospitalized?” Sheila Foster placed a food container on the bedside table, smiling warmly.

“If your mom hadn’t told me, your uncle and I wouldn’t even know.”

Reina didn’t dislike this aunt of hers, so she politely invited her to sit. “Both you and my uncle are always busy. It’s just a minor injury, nothing serious, so I didn’t mention it.”

Of course, that was just courtesy. She had never planned to tell anyone about her personal matters.

After a few polite exchanges, the younger cousin, Layla Foster, urged eagerly, “Mom, let Reina have some of the food you made!”

Sheila suddenly remembered and quickly opened the container. “Look at me, so forgetful. These are the pastries your mom and I made together. Come, try some.”

She placed a few in a small plate and handed Reina a fork.”They’re still warm. Your mom just baked them.”

Reina stared at the plate for a moment, then smiled and accepted it. Turning to her cousin, she said, “Layla, why don’t you eat with me?”

Food like this was precious, and even her uncle, who worked at a bank, couldn’t afford to have pastries often.

Thirteen-year-old Layla, innocent and cheerful, nodded immediately. “Okay! I didn’t even get full at Aunt Helen’s place!”

“You little glutton!” Sheila lightly smacked her daughter, then said apologetically to Reina, “Don’t mind her. She’s always hungry. I can barely afford to feed her.”

Reina smiled but said nothing. Instead of eating, she placed the plate back on the bedside table. “Aunt Sheila, I actually just had breakfast. I’m still full, so I really can’t eat anymore.”

Sheila laughed. “Oh dear, I came too late then. Just save it for later when you’re hungry.”
