Chapter 56 Public Outcry and the Breaking Point

By now, the entire Department of Security was aware of the explosive case, and it was enough to shatter anyone’s worldview.
Someone even uploaded the incident online under the title, “Shocking! Mother and Younger Sister Try to Harm Eldest Daughter to Fund Awakening Potions!” It instantly shot to the top of the local trending list.
Reina’s smartwatch was soon flooded with messages, and the notifications wouldn’t stop.
Among them was one from her grandfather, demanding that she immediately go to the Department of Security to bail Helen and Stella out.
Reina frowned in mild surprise.
Her grandfather had never once cared about Helen’s children with another man. Why the sudden burst of “concern”?
She ignored the message.
In all her life, she had only met him once, and it was when she was ten years old. Even then, it was Helen who brought her and her younger siblings along. After that, there was no contact at all.
That same year, she had been forced to join a harvesting team and leave the city just to earn money to support the family.
And now, the home she had poured everything into had stabbed her in the back. Even more absurdly, it had been her own mother and sister who had done it together.
Saying she wasn’t hurt would be a lie. But life was already hard enough, so she didn’t have the luxury of drowning in sorrow. All she could do was grow stronger so that those who betrayed her would never be able to reach her again.
After leaving the hospital, Reina moved into her rented one-bedroom apartment and began organizing it.
The place came fully furnished and was almost ready to move into.
But essentials like pots, bowls, bedding, and daily supplies were still missing. She would need to buy everything.
What she had previously purchased at Camp 98 was far from enough. This time, she planned to stock up properly.
Washing basins, water buckets, gas stoves, and everything needed for laundry, cooking, and storing clean
water.
Winter was also approaching soon. So, cotton shoes, padded coats, and thick blankets were a must. Ideally, she would also get a few down jackets and quilts that were lightweight, warm, and easy to compress into vacuum bags for storage inside her beast hide pouch.
After a quick calculation, she realized it would take tens of thousands of points.
And after settling Victor’s rescue fee, hospital bills, and rent, she only had a little over 5,000 points left.

Still, that was already better than Chloe’s siblings. After paying their rescue fees, they were basically broke and had even moved back from the inner city to their old outer-city home.
Ursula’s family was slightly better off, probably still holding around 10,000 points. But they had mouths to feed; otherwise, Merrick’s stepmother and half-brothers would have already come knocking in rage.
In short, she urgently needed money.
But how to earn it was another problem.
Her leg still needed time to recover, so going out into the wilderness to harvest was impossible for now. She could only rely on what she could do within her limits.
For example, selling top-grade weapons.
With that thought, Reina opened her smartwatch and searched for a weapons forging shop. She selected one with a good reputation and sent a message to the owner, “Boss, please forge a few 10-foot-long, wide- backed machetes. Name your price.”
The shop owner replied almost immediately, “10-foot-long machetes? Are you serious?”
Reina replied calmly, “Yes. 10 feet. I want them forged with proper steel proportions, no shortcuts, no warping, and no compromises in quality.”
The owner responded, “Alright, I’ll ask the smith how much material this will take and get you a quote.”
Reina replied, “Okay. Hurry up, I’m waiting.”
Yet, she ended up waiting several hours. By the time she finished cleaning the entire apartment and even took a shower, the quote finally came through after her repeated urges
A single 10-foot steel machete would cost 15,000 points-5,000 for materials and 10,000 for forging.
Reina didn’t haggle. She placed the order immediately and said, “Fine. I’ll take two. I’ll pay a 5000-point deposit first, and settle the rest upon pickup. Is that okay?”
The shop owner agreed, adding, “They’ll be ready in three days.”
“No problem.”
After sending the message, Reina placed Maggie’s nest on the balcony and was about to head downstairs when her smartwatch rang again. This time, it was her uncle Norman Foster.
“Reina, are you there?”
She hesitated briefly before replying, “I am. What is it?”
Norman answered, “Your mother and sister have been taken into custody. And you’re not even worried?”
Reina let out a faint, mocking smile. “Worried about what? Worried they won’t get the points from selling me?”
Norman frowned. “Reina, this isn’t the time to be emotional. You’re an adult now. Can’t you be more
