Reind was shocked. She read the new notes on her panel again.

“Higher Energy lets you target more things?”

So, she could harvest energy blocks because her Energy had increased?

Then what about mutant animals? Can I harvest those too?

The more Reina thought about it, the more excited she got. Her eyes lit up.

If she really could harvest mutant animals, she’d never run out of meat again.

The ability users’ cafeteria sold honey-glazed mutant meat for over 200 points per small plate. It was ridiculously expensive.

Alright. Time to test it!

The outside was full of high-contamination mutant beasts that had been burned by ability users and mercenaries. Perfect chance to pick up leftovers.

Reina took a few sips of water to calm down. Then she stuffed two protective suits into her backpack and headed downstairs.

She went to the trading booth again and traded for more than 20 energy blocks. Her account balance dropped to 1,400 points.

After thinking for a moment, she also bought ten high-grade nutrition bars and put them in her bag as emergency food

When her balance hit 400, she finally felt satisfied.

Now that she was broke, she didn’t have to worry about her mom or uncle secretly messing with her account anymore

She walked to Tent No. 37 and knocked on the flap. “Chloe, are you there?”

Reina bent down and stepped into the tent. Inside, a dusty waterproof mat covered the ground, and several people were sitting on it.

Two women and two men. Including Chloe, there were five people.

They weren’t surprised to see Reina and greeted her warmly. “Hey there, come on in and sit.”

One of the women put down the worn protective suit she had been sewing and got up to pour water from the kettle on a small

stove,

“Hi, everyone,” Reina said.

“That’s my brother, Dylan Scott, and my sister-in-law, Sasha Scott. And that’s Gerard’s wife, Mabel York.”

Chloe gave a quick introduction. She took the hot coffee from Sasha and handed it to Reina.

Reina sat down cross-legged and took a sip.

It tasted sweet; they probably added some mutant sweetroot.

She glanced around. The small space, a little over 100 square feet, was divided into two sides by patchwork cloth curtains. Each side had its own bedding and belongings. It looked like all five of them shared this one tent.

Reina finished her coffee, then took two boxes out of her backpack and pushed them toward Chloe. “These are protective suits. They’re for you and Gerard.”

Chloe froze. Her face turned red, and she looked almost annoyed. “Reina, what do you mean? Why are you giving me these?”

Reina smiled. “Why not call it a reunion gift? We haven’t seen each other for years. And we might team up to go into the wild later, I don’t want a teammate getting hurt halfway and slowing me down.”

Chloe rubbed her eyes and looked away from the boxes, mumbling, “I-I wouldn’t slow you down.”

Reina continued, “Just take them. We’re going to be teammates. Think of these as my early investment. Try them on and see if they it. If not, you can exchange them.”

Chloe stood there for a moment, then nodded awkwardly.

In her heart, she made a quiet promise to pay Reina back with points later.

The others in the tent rushed over to thank her. “Thank you so much. We really needed these. You spent a lot on this.”

Reina smiled and stood up. “I’m heading back now. I’m going to scout later. Want to come?”

Chloe nodded fast. “Yes! Count me in.”

Reina said goodbye and went back to her room.

She took out all 27 energy stones and started using her ability.

Ding! “Energy -1. Harvest successful. EXP +2. Gained a low-grade energy crystal. +0.3 free attribute points when absorbed.”

She thought for a moment, then took out her smartwatch and scanned each energy stone. She discovered their energy values. weren’t all the same. They were all within the low-grade range, with under 200 Energy.

Reina started to understand. She picked the one with the lowest value and harvested it.
