Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 122

She'd grown up alongside Sheridan—of course she knew exactly how spoiled he was, coddled and indulged by Diana and Garry Yates since the day he was born.

His temper was like a stone in a muddy old well—impossibly foul and stubborn.

If he happened to be in a good mood, he'd agree to just about anything you asked.

But if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed, it was as if something in his brain had short-circuited: the tiniest spark would set off a volcanic eruption.

People always said a woman's heart was impossible to fathom.

But Sheridan's? His was even more inscrutable than any woman's.

She'd spent years putting up with Sheridan's unpredictable moods—honestly, she'd had enough.

If it weren't for the benefits she hoped to gain from him, she wouldn't want to wait on this egotistical brat for another second.

That woman, Seren—she must have the patience of a saint!

*

Seren was a light sleeper, especially in unfamiliar places.

So even though she'd gone to bed early, she lay awake, staring at the ceiling, eyes wide open, hopelessly aware of every minute that ticked by. It was already ten o'clock.

Her phone buzzed—a text alert.

She fumbled under her pillow for her phone, lighting up the screen.

It was a message from Lennon.

[Are you asleep yet?]

Seren typed back:

[No, not yet. What's up?]

No sooner had she hit send than Lennon's name flashed on the screen—a call.

She answered, "Hey, what's going on?"

"I'm downstairs. Outside your hotel," his voice rumbled, low and smooth, woven into the night air.

For a moment, Seren was stunned, her mind briefly blank.

Lennon was here?

She leapt out of bed, not even bothering with her shoes, and hurried to the window, peering outside.
