Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 139

"Sheridan, I've told you countless times—I'm not coming back. And for your information, I'm married now. Please, don't contact me again."

As she finished, Seren lifted her left hand in a casual, almost absentminded gesture.

A brilliant ring flashed on her fourth finger, glinting sharply under the light. The wedding band was impossible to miss.

Sheridan's heart clenched as the realization hit him: Seren really was married. Was it to the man who answered her phone that day?

His face drained of color, turning ashen.

Seren's lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. Her voice dripped with sarcasm.

"Sorry to disappoint you. After we broke up, there were still men willing to marry me. And, frankly, my husband is a hundred times better than you ever were."

There was no mistaking the bite in her words.

Each syllable landed like a knife, striking straight at Sheridan's chest.

Suddenly, memories came rushing back—things he'd said in the heat of anger, careless and cruel:

"So what if we break up? Someone has to teach you not to be so reckless, and if your parents can't do it, I will."

"To every man out there, Seren, you're nothing but secondhand goods. You really think anyone would want to marry you after me?"

He'd tossed those words out and forgotten them immediately, never once thinking about the damage they left behind.

Only now did he finally grasp just how deep those wounds ran.

Looking back on the last three years, he realized it wasn't some trivial argument or misunderstanding that drove Seren away. No—it was every cruel word he'd ever said.

Seren had said her piece. She turned on her heel and walked away without a backward glance.

Sheridan stood rooted to the spot, stunned.

Just like the last time she left, Seren's back was straight, her pace steady and determined. She didn't look back, not even once.

Memories, long buried, surged up and crashed over him like a tidal wave.

Sheridan felt something twisting inside his chest, squeezing so tightly it was almost impossible to breathe.

And for the first time, he understood—truly understood—that if he tried to play games with Seren, she'd simply disappear. Seren didn't have a shred of feeling for him anymore.

The moment he loosened his grip, she'd vanish from his life, leaving nothing behind.

His gaze darkened.
