Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 142

Was it because she didn't like Sheridan, but had feelings for Lennon instead?

With this conclusion swirling in her mind, Seren felt restless and unsettled, her thoughts tangled in a mess she couldn't quite sort out.

But she forced herself to set those emotions aside for now and turned her attention back to business with Nadine.

"I've broken up with Sheridan," Seren said. "Let's not talk about him anymore."

"Oh, and I found out who's been paying people to smear my name online. It's Willa."

Nadine's focus snapped instantly to this new topic. She ground her teeth, her voice simmering with anger. "I knew it was her! Just wait—I'll spread some nasty rumors about her and see how she likes it!"

Seren didn't bother to stop her. She'd brought this up with Nadine for exactly this reason.

Honestly, Willa had started this fight. Seren was just giving her a taste of her own medicine.

The Golden Age.

Sheridan sat slouched on the living room sofa, head in his hands, completely still.

The room was dark; he hadn't bothered to turn on the lights. Only the faint glow from a streetlamp outside filtered in, tracing pale shapes on the floor.

For the first time, Sheridan realized just how empty the whole house felt.

When Seren had been here, he'd simply thought of it as peaceful—never lonely, never hollow like this.

His phone rang, slicing through the silence.

He glanced at the caller ID. It was Diana Yates, his mother. She hadn't called him in quite a while.

Sheridan picked up. "Mom? What's wrong?"

"Are you back with that Willa girl?" Diana's tone was brisk, barely disguising her irritation.

She'd seen the trending photos online—shots of Willa and Sheridan together, looking far too cozy.
