This room was a delight to stay in.
At night, the sound of the tide lulled her to sleep; in the morning, sunlight spilled across her pillow as the sun rose, blazing and brilliant, over the horizon. The beauty was so intense it almost took her breath away.
Every morning, Seren woke up with the same feeling: a sense of endless possibility, as if the world before her was overflowing with warmth and promise.
Lennon didn't dwell on it. Instead, he smoothly changed the subject at just the right moment.
"My assistant just texted," he said. "There's a fireworks show downtown tonight. One of Warren's masterpieces. Would you like to go?"
Seren's eyes lit up. "Absolutely."
She flung off the covers and practically jumped out of bed, her excitement making her movements quick and clumsy.
Warren was famous in Veridia—a fireworks virtuoso, the first to turn pyrotechnics into true works of art. His shows weren't just displays; they were artistic events, and every video Seren had seen online had left her breathless. Now, the thought of seeing one in person filled her with anticipation.
Lennon had an uncanny knack for knowing exactly what she liked.
Fifteen minutes later, they reached the city center. The fireworks were set to begin in Civic Square, right at the heart of Riverbend City.
The show started at nine. By the time they arrived, only a few minutes remained, and the square was packed with people.
Seren scanned the crowd and quickly spotted a less crowded vantage point. She tugged Lennon toward the center of the square.
Behind them, the Civic Square archway loomed, and underneath it, children wearing glowing cat-ear headbands darted about, playing hide-and-seek.
Not far away, a young couple huddled together under a single scarf. The boy cupped the girl's hands in his, blowing warm breath over her fingers.
Off to the side, another couple stood close. The girl carried a lantern in one hand and held her boyfriend's hand tightly with the other. The air seemed thick with the sweetness of young love.
