Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 280

In truth, Lennon hadn't asked anyone. He had no intention of letting them intrude on their time together. Seren thought about inviting Nadine but remembered she was working the night shift.

The roads leading out of the city were clear, and half an hour later, they arrived at Duskwood Gardens. The mountain air was crisp and cold, the wind biting. Seren had bundled up in a sweater and a heavy coat, but the chill still seemed to seep into her bones as they walked to their villa. Lennon took her hand, his large palm enveloping hers, and walked slightly ahead, his tall frame shielding her from the worst of the wind.

They were staying in the same villa as last time. Dinner was delivered to their room, and afterward, Seren went upstairs to the art studio. She knew she had to practice her fundamentals every day to keep her skills sharp.

It was eleven o'clock when she finally came downstairs. Lennon was sitting on the sofa, his laptop open in front of him. He stood up as she approached. "All done?"

"Mhm. We can go now."

"Wait a second." Lennon disappeared into a bedroom and returned with a hat, gloves, and a scarf.

Seren stared, surprised he had come so prepared. His long, graceful fingers adjusted the hat on her head, helped her with the gloves, and then wrapped the scarf snugly around her neck. "Okay," he said. "Now we can go."

The fabric was still warm, and a gentle heat spread through her. "Why are they warm?" she asked softly.

Lennon took her hand as they walked outside. "I was afraid you'd be cold, so I put them in the dryer for a bit."

A wave of affection washed over her, filling her heart. She stopped walking. "Lennon, lower your head."

He looked puzzled but complied, bending down. Blushing, Seren mimicked a couple she had seen once, wrapping one end of her long scarf around his neck as well. "There."

Lennon's eyes softened, a deep, tender smile spreading across his face. He leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Thank you, wife."

Diana Yates returned to Powers Mansion just before midnight. As she walked through the door, the acrid smell of smoke hit her. She changed into her slippers and rounded the corner into the living room to find Garry sitting on the sofa, a lit cigarette between his fingers. The ashtray on the coffee table was overflowing with butts.

"Garry, why are you smoking again?" she asked, surprised. "I thought you quit."

He didn't look up, just took another long drag. "I'm stressed," he exhaled.

Diana walked to the water cooler and poured herself a glass. "What happened? I thought things were quiet at the company."

He didn't answer, just continued to smoke in silence. After a long moment, he finally spoke. "Diana, I think we should let Willa into the family."
