Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 279

Lennon put down his phone. "You can head home for the day," he told his assistant.

The assistant looked puzzled. "Mr. Crestwell, don't you need a ride back to Rippling Gardens?"

"No," Lennon said, a hint of pride in his voice. "The lady of the house is picking me up tonight."

A wave of relief washed over the assistant. Who wouldn't be happy to leave work early? He secretly hoped the boss's wife would pick him up every day.

After his assistant left, Lennon glanced at the date circled in red on his calendar: tomorrow. He picked up the phone and made another call to his assistant to give him a few last-minute instructions.

Meanwhile, Seren said goodbye to her grandfather and got into her car. Before she could start the engine, Nadine called. Seren put on her earbuds so she could drive. "What's up?"

"I heard about what happened at Rutledge Group!" Nadine's voice was buzzing with excitement. "My mom kept it from me, too. If I hadn't seen the official announcement online, I would have had no idea. She told me Lennon was the one who orchestrated everything to stand up for you. I'm so jealous! I wish I had someone to fight my battles for me."

Seren pulled out onto the road. "You know, you could always consider Michael Johnston. I asked Lennon about him. He said Michael doesn't have a fiancée or a girlfriend."

"What?" Nadine's surprise was palpable. "He doesn't? Are you sure that's what Lennon said?"

"That's what he said. Where did you hear otherwise?"

"Yes!" Seren said, her eyes lighting up. Growing up in the perpetually spring-like Riverbend City, she hadn't seen snow in years.

"We can head there now," Lennon said in his warm, gentle voice. "We'll have dinner and wait. The forecast says it should start around midnight."

"Should we ask Jasper and Michael to come?" Seren asked automatically.

Lennon shook his head. "I already did. They're all busy."
