"Dad, if you truly want to change, you should start by being good to Mom—that's the most important thing," Nathaniel said sincerely. "Do you remember when Cecilia and I were going to divorce? Didn't you advise me not to, saying I would regret it?"
"Do you regret it now?" he then asked, every word measured.
Wren's expression stiffened.
In matters of the heart, outsiders often saw things clearly.
Back then, he saw at a glance that Cecilia was a good daughter-in-law who treated Nathaniel well. If Nathaniel divorced her, he would never be able to find another person who would treat him as well as Cecilia did.
Similarly, Nathaniel was now viewing his situation the same way.
"Your mother and I are old. Our situation is different from yours; you won't understand." Wren still couldn't swallow his pride to seek reconciliation.
At that, Nathaniel did not try to persuade him further.
"By the way, how is Robert's company doing lately? Didn't you arrange for your subordinate to help him manage his company?" Wren asked.
That topic gave Nathaniel plenty to say. "Dad, do you think Uncle Robert truly needs help?"
"What do you mean by that?" Wren asked.
"He merely wanted to use you to get me to give special attention to his company." Nathaniel exposed the truth, adding, "He's already found a reason to fire the manager I sent over."
"How could that be?" Wren looked somewhat incredulous.
Nathaniel knew Wren valued kinship and would not give up on Robert quickly, so he didn't continue the discussion.
"In any case, please don't ask me to help him again in the future. People like him won't be grateful," Nathaniel stated.
Leaving that warning, he walked back toward Cecilia and their children.

Jonathan was not a three-year-old, so naturally, he was perceptive enough to sense Robert's hidden agenda.
Robert had to have ulterior motives for punishing Felix in that way.

"How can we do that? Felix was naughty. I'll apologize to you on his behalf. Please don't be angry," Robert urged.
Afterward, he looked at Nathaniel. "Nathaniel, please don't mind the children's squabbles."
Without waiting for Nathaniel to speak, he turned to Wren and said, "We are family; there's no need for formalities between us."
