Unable to dodge in time, Nicholas was forced to take the punch.
Blood immediately trickled down the corner of his mouth. His body swayed, and his grip on Jocelyn loosened as he stumbled back several steps, nearly falling to the ground.
With clenched fists, Yannick stood between him and Jocelyn, his eyes blazing with anger.
"We were kind enough to take you to the hospital, and yet you come here to harass her? It seems you're not clear-headed enough. Let me help you sober up properly!" Yannick growled.
If he hadn't come to pick up Jocelyn, he wouldn't have seen Nicholas harassing her.
Overwhelmed with anger, Yannick clenched his teeth. Even when he turned to look at Jocelyn, a hint of fury remained in his gaze.
"Are you all right?" he asked.
Jocelyn panicked a little at his question, but soon nodded. "I'm fine."
Only then did Yannick turn back and walk toward Nicholas.
Nicholas, having regained his balance, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and smirked.
"What right do you have to stop me? She doesn't even love you," he taunted.
Yannick raised his fist to strike again, but Jocelyn immediately rushed to stop him, hugging his arm. "Yannick, stop."
With reddened eyes, Yannick gave her a puzzled look.
"Why? Do you still want to protect him?" he asked.
His Adam's apple bobbed, and he continued, "Do you really love him and can't let him go?"
Pain filled Yannick's eyes. At that moment, he had decided that as long as Jocelyn admitted it, he would set her free, accept that he had misjudged her, and that he had trusted the wrong person.
Jocelyn immediately shook her head. "No."
She stated firmly, "Yannick, absolutely nothing has happened between him and me. It won't happen now or in the future."

That was the first time Jocelyn had called Yannick "hubby."
Yannick's mood instantly changed for the better. He pulled the corners of his mouth into a smile and replied. "Okay."
He led Jocelyn away, but not before casting a provocative, triumphant look at Nicholas.
At that sight, Nicholas coughed heavily. His face was pale, and he looked thin and frail, as if he might collapse at any moment.
"Jocelyn..." he murmured.
Jocelyn didn't look at him, though a part of her heart ached.
Once they were in the car, Jocelyn's mood still hadn't recovered.
Yannick looked at her face from the corner of his eye and reached out to hold her hand.
"If you regret it now, you still have a chance," he said.
