When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2221

Power struggles plagued most wealthy clans, and the Lindberg family was no exception; undercurrents ran deep, and Sven had nearly lost his life once.

"Calvin, let it go sooner and find someone who can look after you," Sven urged again.

Calvin laughed. "I know. Relax, I moved on long ago."

Sven nodded.

Just then Charlotte stepped out. "Calvin."

Calvin turned to her. "Happy wedding. Grow old together."

"Thank you," Charlotte replied.

"I have to get back, so I won't stay. Goodbye."

Calvin spotted his driver arriving and spoke to them before getting in.

Charlotte and Sven watched him leave.

After he was gone, Charlotte sighed. "Calvin is such an outstanding man. It's a shame he hasn't found his match yet."

"That's just the way he is—single-minded," Sven said.

Charlotte let out a soft laugh. "You accuse everyone else of being stubborn, but from where I'm standing, you're the stubborn one."

With his chin lowered, Sven studied her face. "Am I?"

"Of course you are."

Sven scratched the back of his head. "All right, I never noticed."

Charlotte curled her arm through his. "Come on, let's head home."

"Mm." Sven nodded again, quick and sure.

Together they strolled off, their paired backs surprisingly well matched.

Cecilia flew home with last night's chaos looping through her head.

She drifted into a light sleep, then jerked awake, forehead damp with sweat.

"Ceci, are you all right?" Vivian asked, alarmed by the fright stamped on her face.

Cecilia blinked, glanced at Vivian, and shook her head. "I'm fine."

Vivian wrapped her arms around her. "Bad dream? Lean on me and sleep."
