Elena seemed to find the timing almost funny, and she spoke right then.
"Brother, what happened? Everyone sitting here is family. There's nothing to hide, right?"
She was simply following the line Robert himself had just used and tossing it right back at him.
Robert's mouth twitched at the corner. He forced himself to settle down and keep his face steady.
"It's nothing much. My people just said they still haven't found Miranda."
He was lying.
What his secretary had actually come in to tell him was that Miranda had taken a lot of important things from the company, and some company secrets had already been leaked out.
Elena obviously didn't believe a word of it, but she still said, "How did it turn into this? Do you want Nathaniel to have someone help you look for her?"
"No, that won't be necessary. Nathaniel's busy enough already. I shouldn't trouble him over this."
After saying that, Robert took a drink of water.
He looked at Elena and the others. They didn't seem to have any intention of leaving, and his face started to stiffen.
"Sister-in-law, have you all eaten yet? If not, there's a pretty good restaurant outside. How about I have my secretary take you there?" He kept trying different ways to send them off.
"Brother, you're too polite. We already ate at the house," Elena said on purpose.
She held it in, but the laugh kept pushing at her throat.
Robert was completely out of options now. He couldn't exactly throw them out for real.
His company was still going to need Nathaniel later.
Elena and the others stayed there, shamelessly planting themselves for a while longer before they finally left.
Once they got outside, Elena couldn't hold it back anymore and burst out laughing.
"That was so satisfying. Hahaha, seriously, that was way too satisfying." Elena laughed and clapped at the same time.
Cecilia knew Elena couldn't stand Robert. Even so, she still hadn't expected her to be that bold today.
After they saw Elena into her car, Cecilia and Nathaniel rode home alone.
On the way back, Cecilia let out a quiet sigh.
"If I'd known one photograph could help Mom get that much off her chest, I would've shared it sooner."
